as per @BigMike's suggestion (, this thread will support the new BarsType i've developed for NT7.
thanks to @trend (isyourfriend for help in testing. thanks to @aslan ( for BetterRenko (used as a reference) and @gordo ( for BetterLineBreak (the initial starting point for this idea).
i set out to create a BLB to support Range bars ... bad idea, as it turns out, since you will end up with the ultimate expanding-triangle as the bars must continue to get larger and larger and larger to break the range.:faint:
so back to the drawing board i went, and ended up with this:
/// Momentum Bar Type is a variant of the Range Bar with a fixed height candle body (open-close)
/// specified as user-defined range value, where the open equals the prior bar close, and counter-
/// trend sentiment is expressed as a wick (no upper wick on bull bar; no lower wick on bear bar;
/// session-break bars may be dojis with upper and lower wicks, due to an internal NT7 issue).
after struggling to resolve the NT7 session-break issue, i caved into the work-around used by @aslan ( in his BetterRenko (which is also used by NT developers internally if you review @BarsType.cs)
here's a screenshot showing the work-around that creates session-break doji's:

also included in the package is an indicator called CandleOutline, which ties everything together in lieu of creating a custom CandleType. this indicator does work on other bars types.
here's a screenshot pointing out the configurable parameters of the indicator:

here's the NT7 import zip:

note: this BarsType uses Final4. if you already have a Final4, then please edit the code and choose another option (eg. Custom1, Custom2, ... Final1, Final2, ..., etc.)
one final screenshot comparing this to a traditional range bar:
