Anyone using the intel Nuc? Curious what your config is like. I'm considering one with 16GB Ram, and 128GB SSD. Mostly connecting to it via RDP. So this will sit in a closet. I like the form factor and the fact that it's fanless. Core I7 8th gen processor.

I have a mac mini on my office desk but can't install bootcamp with a fusion drive. What I started out doing is running bootcamp on macbook pro and then RDPing to it from the dual screen mini. With the Nuc i'll do the same thing as well as when on the road, can RDP back to the home office.

Thoughts?

Thanks.

I use a nuc as my main workstation (click trading and software dev).

-intel hades canyon NUC8I7HVK
-32gb ram
-2x 500gb m.2 ssd
-4 32" Monitors.

though if you are putting it in your closet anyhow I don't see much reason to pay any premium for a small form factor.

Well it's not really a closet but rather a cabinet in the credenza where the office switch is. What is need is a small footprint. Possibly something I can take with me on occasion but the main setup is as I descrbed. I'll RDP to it from the Mac Mini which has dual 27" displays. the test was running bootcamp on the macbookpro and RDPing to it which works awesome. I don't want the mackbook for the trading software/license though. This will allow me to RDP outside as well. Don't need all that HD and Memory as you have though. But looks like a fun machine!

I work as an IT Admin,

We use NUCs extensively for standalone work PODs ( think soundproof rooms for working solo).

They're pretty good. We have them mounted underneath desks. You can then turn on the wake on USB function to allow you to wake devices up by pressing the keyboard/mouse etc and it'l turn on the device. No desk diving needed.
