I am in the process of introducing my scientific-minded brother to trading. He thinks in terms of principles and laws. For instance, in physics, there are a finite number of laws (conservation of energy, the laws of thermodynamics, etc.) that govern the motion of physical objects. He expects there to be a similar set of laws governing the movement of prices in the financial markets.
This has got me thinking: Could it be possible to explain price movement using a finite number of laws, similar to the laws of physics? What would those laws be?
I have been chewing on this the past few days and thought I'd turn to the group for your thoughts. I do think that there are a few general principles of price action that traders tend to believe in and that could potentially be thought of as our trading version of the laws of physics. I'd welcome anyone's thoughts on the topic.
