Do currency futures have any impact on its forex pair?
New to futures and forex. I noticed that the currency future & forex charts are very similar. I 'm wondering if I buy a lot of contracts to increase a currency future volume, will I see it effecting its forex pair?
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
In theory, yes, but you would need lots of buying power. There would be no need for you to purchase any fx pairs because the Futures themselves would move higher. However, on the legal side as a speculator, there are positions limits that you would need to report to the CFTC. This is meant to avoid manipulation.
In practical terms, this is not a viable option because retail does not have enough funds to move a market that has a 5 Trillion daily vol.
Thanks,
Matt Z
