Welcome, Guest!

This forum was established to help traders (especially futures traders) by openly sharing indicators, strategies, methods, trading journals and discussing the psychology of trading.

We are fundamentally different than most other trading forums:
  • We work extremely hard to keep things positive on our forums.
  • We do not tolerate rude behavior, trolling, or vendor advertising in posts.
  • We firmly believe in openness and encourage sharing. The holy grail is within you, it is not something tangible you can download.
  • We expect our members to participate and become a part of the community. Help yourself by helping others.

You'll need to register in order to view the content of the threads and start contributing to our community. It's free and simple, and we will never resell your private information.

Well, look no further than EUR/USD today right after ECB announced economic policies, and again during Draghi's conference call....

Great day wasn't it?

Analyze the news

DreamerJ View Post

I'm trying to learn how to analyze the news that comes out and then affects futures market. Basically to dab in fundamental trading but I'm still overall a technical trader just trying to expand my thought process. Any tips on where to start or books that give you insight on what to look for. Thanks

One of the best traders of this type as I understand is John Netto

His two books first one available for preorder

One Shot - One Kill Trading

As I see it markets are completely an organic entity/process because people are and people make markets. News events can be understood as "storms" IMHO, unpredictable not something to base business off of. Use new feeds of some kind to be aware of these coming "storms" like a weather report... Should you bring an umbrella this morning kind of thing. In other words tight risk control or flat before the event. Assuming day trading.

What i mean is .. since what he asking is more about general futures fundamentals and not specifically on currency futures ...

Btw, i think long term still down .. short term long (- may ??) .. ecb credibility in question, election, brexit, china, equities, possibility u.s macro flop, .. next week fed will be interesting.

Futures Edge on FIO
Hi !

In my opinion the best way to analyse the news is to analyse price action. Because you will always get news later than Big Trading Majors. And so, you'll enter too late. So to analyse how market react to news. On swing trading I usually waiting after big news noise end and trade according to how market has react after 2 days.
