This is my first month trading 6E and M6E... while all mini contracts have rolled, the EUR/USD has not... when does volume swing into the June contract?

I searched the forum first and couldn't find anything on this...

As of just moments ago the bulk of the volume was still in the March contract.

Thanks in advance.

Hank

My experience has been the third week of the expiring month. That said, what i do every day is to check the volume on the expiring month and the next contract month. Use the instrument manager to bring in the June contract. Then open up two time and sales windows, make one March 6E and the other June 6E. when June exceeds March, time to switch. Hope this helps.

You may also take a look at this very useful tool: Search - Big Mike's Trading Forum

This indicator will show you the highest volume of any respective future instrument, so that there will be no need to put each contract month in the market analyzer for comparing purposes.

The contracts will roll today. The last trade date for the March 6E contract is Monday.

And I personally like the market analyzer window, and I keep it up even when I am not watching for rollover. I want to see what the other markets are doing without having a chart up.

Using CME's site, you can see the last few days quickly (under "Settlements") if the volume is shifting, and you can see the current quote to see which contract has more.

EUR/USD

Great suggestions all.
Looks like we're finally turning the corner on 6E...
too bad it has to be so long and drawn out... kind of agonizing trying to place pivots and value area..

Just about anything a trader needs to know about the 6E or M6E can be found on this site,,,, IMO. @BarefootHank Josh beat me to the post (I was side tracked) but here's a couple snips of the settlement data, the FIRST is the delayed quote page from earlier this evening.

I watch the Open Interest numbers, when the OI# is greater on the month in question I trade THAT contract.

For those of you who avoid trading during rollover, which day exactly is it that is generally avoided. The last day for the March 6E contract is Monday 18th. So does that mean some people would avoid trading on Monday, or would they avoid trading today being the prior day?

I know some people trade through, but there are those who avoid this time.

You probably don't trade on the final day, that day is used for setting the final settlement price for the contract.

From the CME group website

Quoting
The final settlement price of the expiring contract for AUD/USD futures (6A), CAD/USD futures (6C),
CHF/USD futures (6S), EUR/USD futures (6E), GBP/USD futures (6B), and JPY/USD futures (6J) is
determined on the last day of trading at 9:16 a.m. Central Time (CT).
