agree @Alphachase

the perverse thing is, even a finalized deal will do very little for Greek's economy or citizen, IHO

only to postpone the unavoidable

They would be far better off leaving the Euro. And sooner is better. It maybe painful in the very beginning but it will "bear fruits" later on. Southern European economies have never been and will never be as productive, efficient and competitive as contemporary German's one.

As usual, the fine print of any European "deal" is revealed not only after the agreement, but after the US market close. So for all those waiting for the real punchline...

well my point is that simply Greece can't repay it's debt, more important Greek people, right or wrong are not willing to make the necessary step in that direction.
So after all that is said and done it's not about finding a deal that allow Grece to pay its debt but finding some kind of agreement that do not make a precedent in the Euro area but still keep Grece alive and more important in the euro area due to its strategic geographical location.

Supposedly the "letter" of what Greece will accept has found it's way to Brussels...

Now it's there

Oops now it's not

We have the letter

Sorry that was addressed to Dear Abby

It should be interesting as to what, who, when and where.

-Bill

EDIT

Supposedly Greece has until COB today to give a response, deliver a letter or who knows what now

Athens +7, Brussels/ Frankfurt +6, London +5 --- New York

Sources said the three pages of draft proposals included new policies aimed at improving tax revenue, combating widespread tax evasion among the wealthy, cracking down on the illicit cigarettes and petrol trade...

Good luck with that...
