I'm somewhat new to trading futures currencies but I've been managing myself decently scalping on the 3 min chart while keeping an eye on the DX. I'm wondering, what's the best way to investigate what caused this big spike in demand? I checked forexfactory but there weren't any news events around this time.

What are some things that would typically cause this to happen?

I know a lot of people like to discount keeping an eye on the news and only follow charts, but it definitely helps to know what is going on. It doesn't tell you which way the market is gonna go, but it does sometimes tell you in advance WHEN there could be some big action. By extension, you can also get ideas as to when the market may be dead as its waiting for pending announcements.

I follow quite a few news sources on twitter. Here are three that i think are essential:

Forex News | Currency News by ForexLive -- #1
Forex News, FX Trading, Strategies, & Market Analysis @ DailyFX -- several different analysts, all good.
@djfxtrader -- twitter handle, u need to pay gazillions to get their actual news service but their tweets are free and still very timely!

ForexLive.com is a good place to read about what is happening to the market and what may have moved it quickly. Sometimes they are a little slow in announcing their opinion but at least it gets you an opinion for the short term based on the "news" of the moment.

Looking for continuation higher, and for support to remain in tact near the 3200 area.

Does anybody else keep getting bad data from IB for the daily OHLC bar for 2012-09-04 ?

It's obviously totally wrong, because I have the low for day as 1.256x according to the minute bar data.

Don't know why my daily bar data is wrong.

IB is providing the low as 1.1700 but it's not and despite correcting the data in my local NT7 database, it keeps getting updated back to 1.1700.

Does anybody else see this from Interactive Brokers and if so, what on earth do I do about it? Do I have to tell IB myself? Surely 6 months after the fact, somehow IB should have picked this up? Surely my software is causing the problem? Don't tell me I'm the only one, please.

I'm talking about the spot forex price here.

@Adamus NEVER use NT daily bars, always use 1440 minute. Its not just an IB issue, same thing happens with ZenFire

I thought that was only for NT 6.5 and was fixed in NT7

Did you get this much? First time I've seen an incurable problem like this with NT7.

I can see the data in the Historical Data Manager in NT - the entry for the daily data is just wrong and I have corrected it multiple times, but the error keeps coming back like a drunk looking for a conversation.

So it's definitely NT?
