Trading one or two pairs in forex will give good results ...BUT it will also give just a couple of setups pr day / week / month , all depending on the chosen strategy of course.

What do you boys and girls think....is it better to go with one or two ....or should one rather use something like 8 - 9 pairs ??
Will choosing more pairs give more random results...?

...just wandering....

Trading only one or two pairs at a time will work against you. There's a good chance that you will get anxious to trade and enter into the market under poor conditions due to impulse. If you utilize all of the pairs, you will be able to place trades regularly under ideal conditions. If you become proficient with technical analysis, there's no advantage in focusing on specific markets. A good setup is a good setup.
