I tried to open a bitcoin trading account at Gdax, Gemini, and Coinbase. Photo ID verification failed at GDAX and Coinbase despite repeated attempts. No explanation or support. Bank linking failed at Gemini with no support of explanation. I was able to open an account at Coinbase but they don't support limit orders.
I may try again later this week but not a great sign.
Update
As an aside, I also tried buying bitcoin when it was around $100. I couldn't get the software to work and decided it would never catch because it wasn't convenient enough. I was wrong. I was able to get Coinbase ID verify to work by using mobile scan of my documents instead of the web cam.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Update:
I was able to place a few trades in GDAX but margin trading is not available. The requirements for margin trading are pretty steep even if available. This means that shorting is not possible. In my case, I was testing the ability to hedge a position that hasn't cleared yet Coinbase.
I've had no problems with coinbase / GDAX and I've used them since 2013. Applied for high net worth limits not to long ago with CB and they had it approved within 2 weeks.
I mentioned on another thread here that I opened a kraken.com account and it only took about a week to get the Tier 3 level validation for my account approved.

Can anyone comment on the speed of different exchanges? I am interested in trying a few things, but my understanding is that your trades have to be verified by the block chain before the trade is verified. So it can be several minutes before it confirms your position.
and was able to analyze some cryptos with it, however I'm not sure if it has the capability to use for real-time trading on NT-8. The ninjatools website is a bit thin
Tradingview does have charting and API data feeds for Bitcoin and Altcoins, however I see no way of using Tradingview to trade on the platform itself.
However with Coinigy you can trade on the Coinigy platform through any exchange that has an API authorized for trading.
I use Coinigy to trade on my Bittrex account.
Coinigy site looks a lot like Tradingview, in fact I thought they were the same outfit except designed specifically for Crypto-currencies.
Coinigy is supposedly has a major upgrade coming out... not sure when.
I would like to use Ninja-Trader platform to trade Crypto, but I don't think Ninja Trader wants to add that capability.
Not sure why, maybe because they want a piece of the exchange profits
I don't believe I've ever seen this, it's like any other DOM or price ladder, there's liquidity on each side and the trades happen as soon as the price is hit.

That is only for making purchases or sending money via the bitcoin network. You do not trade on the network. You trade on the exchange. Right, you do not actually trade on the bitcoin network. Think about it, you would be sending bitcoin back and forth-- a bitcoin is a bitcoin and the network would never be able to handle the traffic. You are not trading bitcoin for bitcoin (which makes no sense )-- but you are trading bitcoin for something else, such as dollars, when you trade on the exchange.
It is just like a currency trade BTC/USD. Any actually involves selling one thing and buying another.
