@Big Mike can we move to Cryptocurrency Trading. Also maybe you should rename "Cryptocurrency Trading" to "Cryptocurrency & AltCoin Trading" since they seem inexplicably linked at this point.

@coinzella I'm not an expert on this and don't trade Cryptocurrencies & AltCoins. Maybe I don't correctly understand what AltCoins are but my concern with them is that it's like buying unregulated stocks. Sure there could be a couple of bargains in there, but I'd be concerned that there would be far to many scams in there.

Changing the subject completely. I see you are in Uganda. Obviously futures.io is very heavy with American, European and Asian traders, but I don't think I've ever seen somebody from Central Africa here. I'd be curious if you'd be willing to discuss what the trading space there is like? What exchanges can you trade, are there many traders, etc etc?

In general, I do not like altcoins. I suspect most will fail but Bitcoin will survive. However, if I were to have a criteria then it might look something as follows:

1. Must be actively used for commerce and/or a significant portion of the crypto market place.
2. Must have features/technology that make it superior in at least one or preferably more respects to Bitcoin.
3. Prefer if supported by Coinbase/major exchanges for exchange/transition.

If I were you, I'd create a defined list of your that specifies what qualities coins must have before taking any risks. Some other criteria worth consideration might be: issue amount, core team/developers, trend of price, does it solve a critical problem, etc.

I wonder why you feel like that about BTC? You do realize it is vastly inferior technologically to other alts?

1. Ripple for banks, BCH, LTC for commerce.
2. ETH, Monero and the other 3 above...

I been looking to get into ripple. For a US trader it has not been easy. Wanted to get in before coinbase opened the doors to it.

It seems the new approach many are taking is to shotgun alt coins and hoddle in the hope of finding the next BTC/LTC.

Brings back memory’s of when I started on the internet stocks back in the good old days of dial up

I like the OP's approach: "I like the sounds of..."

Probably that is how most people invest in cryptos anyway.

I firmly disagree with you on the Altcoins, but to each their own.

I firmly agree with you on this the alt's, IMO, must have a utility purpose behind their creation, not just another penny coin / token for the masses to "invest" in due to the low price. Coinbase is so slow to add new crypto's that I look for some of the other major exchanges to support the alt's even if I don't trade on the respective exchange.

Exactly what I look for in the alt's, same as I would if I were to invest in a company via stock for my IRA. Fundamental analysis is key for the crypto space and I truly feel it's something that's being overlooked by the masses.

For the OP: Here's a YT channel that's a great source of info for all things crypto.
