I'm trading BTC/USD using Auction Market principles carried over from the futures side. There's a big community of auction market traders on this forum so I'm hoping this thread can foster productive conversation outside of the noisy crypto space. I'm going to be posting my context charts as regularly as I can and whatever else I think will add value, and I encourage anyone who's interested to participate.
Anyways here's what I'm looking at today.
-30 Minute Chart
-The shaded purple areas are extremes around where price has flipped
-The dashed orange lines are levels that I'm watching short term
-I've got 200 period bollinger bands with 1 and 2 std devs
-24 hour volume profile reset on the traditional FX open, I sometimes jump between this and a visible range profile.
I appreciate the chart mate...it worked quite well. The space is growing rather quickly so the feed back will increase rapidly over a short time period
I'm using tradingview for the majority of my crypto charting right now, you can get volume profile if you upgrade to a paid plan. It's nice to have but it's pretty limited in its customizability. I've been playing around with sierrachart as well, looks promising. All my data comes from Bitfinex right now, but looking at switching exchanges soon.
There's 'Session Volume' combined with 'Visible Range' profile. My main issue with tradingview is that 'Session Volume' profiles start aggregating at 16:00 PST, which to me is kind of arbitrary for cryptos. I'd be more interested in splitting it based on specific times like 08:00 in Beijing or maybe even after a certain volume/time threshold is exceeded etc. But for a web-based platform it still does well, especially if I'm working on my mac and I don't feel like booting up my windows machine or restarting with bootcamp.
