I am testing platforms at the moment to hopefully settle for one. Does Q Trader have market profile charts and/ or is it able to plot volume against price (ideally with customisable time periods) and show value area POC and Highs/ Lows?

In addition, I would like to know, whether OCO/ bracket orders placed in Q Trader are held server side or are they held on the client locally?

And finally, is it possible to do range and/ or renko charts with Q Trader?

And if so, do any of these things cost extra?

Any help with these questions would be much appreciated.

Maybe this will help some:

Market Profile is only available on Integrated Client. Range and Renko should be available by next week on Qtrader. You can chart bid/ask volume and you can export volume to excel via RTD, at that point you would be able to use excel to determine things such as POC. OCO orders are server side and Bracket orders are local.

Pretty sure it can do this on multiple timeframes, on separate charts. Standard

In addition, I would like to know, whether OCO/ bracket orders placed in Q Trader are held server side or are they held on the client locally?

This depends on which exchange you trade on, but I would say generally these are held locally. with CQG . Smart Orders is something that needs to be enabled so an extra cost, but you will get standard OCO, but not DOM triggered stops .

And finally, is it possible to do range and/ or renko charts with Q Trader?
No, but with Ninja you have this, which is free if your a lifetime member.
Renko was not available on CQG end of 2013

And if so, do any of these things cost extra?

Any help with these questions would be much appreciated.

The CQG guys are pretty good in US although I ring a UK number, CQG Trader is a light front end, but seems reasonably quick and solid delivery of prices in busy markets compared to CGQ IC, in my experience of using Trader and the CQG IC, although I have not actually used Q Trader.
Trading Technology was my front end of choice.

I haven't used Q trader either but if you search YouTube there are quite a few videos on how it works and perhaps those will help answer some of your questions.

Futures Edge on FIO

Are you a NinjaTrader user?

Thank you all.

Have watched many of the videos and Youtube, as well as on the CQG website, but do not remember having seen the answers to my questions there.

Good to hear, that range and renko charts will be available in QTrader next week.

I am looking for at least a server held OCO order capability. Happy to setup order entries and exits separately, although server helpd brackets would be nice. I want to enter the orders on the DOM and I am looking to trade ES, FDAX and E6 mostly. So are server held OCO orders supported for CME and Eurex in the standard Q_Trader (using CQD data feed) edition (i.e. in the $40/month and 25c/ contract price)?

I am still a little unclear based on the answres here, on whether QTrader charts have an indocator/ study built-in to show value area highs and lows as well as POC, either for a specified period or the period actively slected in the chart. I would appreciate a final confirmation on this from somebody who uses or has recently used Q Trader.

I would love to be able to use TT X_Trader as an execution platform, but as I have described in the X_Trader thread, this only works properly, if the Windows Base Filtering Engine service is disabled, and I an unwilling to do that, because it breaks all/ any s/w firewall and the ability to use IPSEC VPN's, both of which I need. If somebody is able to use X_Trader smoothly on Windows 7 without having to disable the BFE, I would LOVE to hear about it.

P.S. Harry, so are you saying that even if the exchange I want to trade supports OCO orders held on server, I would not be able to place a profit target and SL as an OCO using the standard edition of Q_Trader? And if so, is it available as an extra and if so, how much does this cost?

Ok, so I just spoke with CQG and they tell me, that in Q Trader, there is no way of showing volume distribution by price, i.e. a volume profile. I understand that Market Profile is only available in IC and that's cool, but a simple volume profile? C'mon. That has just killed Q Trader as an option for me, as I use volume profile a lot. And there is no way I will pay for CQG IC.

My options in my search for a future trading platform are diminishing rapidly.

CGG Q Trader - dead.
X_Trader Pro - dead (because of isses with Windows BFE Service)
R Trader Pro - dead (don't like the DOM at all)
Ninjatrader - dead (don't like the DOM)
Multicharts - dead (don't like DOM and no support of server side OCO)
.....

Any suggestions or recommendations would be VERY welcome, as I am a little disillusioned right now....

Are my requirements really that exotic? demanding?

Hey,

I moved over from TT to Ninjatrader after finding the 9g DOM. (https://futures.io/vendors-product-reviews/29863-9g-dom-www-9gtrading-com.html).

With the right broker and CQG data this sets me up with the lowest monthly fixed cost and competitive RT$.

Also rumoured that in the long term a CQG API plugin will be developed (depending upon demand), which will open up access to the better brokers (Marex etc).
