How to Find Which Index to Track for Commodities?

Hello All,
For now, I am just trying to figure out how to track various commodity markets, metals, etc. How does one go about deciding which Index, ETF, etc to track when trying to follow a market type? I find it very confusing. If there is a good reference to use I'd love to hear about it.

For individual commodities, I only follow the futures and cash prices.

Commodity ETFs usually consist of various futures with different expiry dates for the commodity. Thus, it does not make sense for me to follow them.

For commodity baskets I follow the well known indices, eg. Bloomberg commodity index.
