Hi to all.

Have a question about ICE futures.

A friend of mine is a client of Interactive brokers, but via Optimtrader,
and he tells me that he pays no data feed for ICE futures, mainly he trades sugar and coffee.

From what he told me, he only gets notification when placing trade, that he has no
real time data, but he is still able to trade futures and options.
Is this possible?
Asking because I know ICE charges all users.

The question is why would anyone want to have such a solution when you trade leveraged contracts?
If you trade, you need streaming data to adjust targets.
You can save on many things, however data, in my opinion, is not one of them.

It is possible - depend on trading style but if there is no scalping or DOM trading you could use CFD data. UK brokers provide that without any fee - so its good idea if you trade for longer term ( at least 15 minutes )

Thank you for reply.

Agree that one should not look to cut cost on data.

Well, why is he doing this, I have no idea.
He told me that he is using free CFD data from sites like investing.com, and then places trades
with his broker. Even stranger is that he has really decent account and that feed would not been of
impact to him.

Many of my trades are medium- to long-term, and are based on end of day data. In these cases, I Intend to hold the positions for weeks or months, and the intraday chart does not matter. I usually exit these trades if the stop is hit end of day. (The exit order is placed on the following day.)

All of my trades regarding softs are in this category. Thus, there is no need for real time data.

Best regards, Myrrdin
