Need your help.

I don’t know is there is a lot of people here familiar with CQG. But @xplorer ask me an interesting question: why not automating your system?

Here is my problem and if you have a suggestion you will have… my eternal recognition

Here is the main reason why I can’t automate the system.

The below chart is a perfect example of a trade that I took:

The chart of the top is a CVB (this chart record price change and when we have X number of price changes on the bid or the ask a new bar is draw, the name is misleading it is not draw in function of volume)

Below you have a classical 2 range bar.

The little arrows are my indicator (green arrow = signal to go long and red the opposite). Bars are painted in green and stay green from the first signal to go long until we have a neutral signal (white bar) or a short signal (red bar). Of course it is the opposite for red.

I take a trade long or short only if I have at the same time a green or red arrow in the CVB chart and the RB chart. By same time of course it is not the exact same time if we look at the time stamp of the bar we will see a difference of several 1/10s.

So I would like to program an indicator that would draw the same little green or red arrows with the conditions that they appear at T + dT on both chart and dT will be a free parameter.

Unfortunately I have absolutely no ideas how to make that in CGQ ?

As an example in order to help understanding the problem the chart below is an example of a trade that I did not take.

Have enjoyed going through your progress...I am getting my hands into CQG now. quick Q: what are the red/green vertical bars at the bottom. Appreciate your response and sorry if i missed it somewhere

@jokertrader

it is the time it took to draw the bar.

No trades so far.

Usually when we have a big move during the night my system gives very poor results during the day.

To use an analogy it is like a rocket. It has a limited quantity of fuel and if it has exhausted most of it during the night there is few left for the day to generate nice moves.

2 trades:

10:45 short 32.10 exit at 31.74 11:17: +36
11:30 long 31.78 exit 31.72 : -6

very good day. Could have been over +100.

Even if I'm happy with the results and with the system one thing concerns me. My attitude... I behave like if I do not take it seriously. I need to change that or one day or another I will pay the price for that. I trade the same way I could play a video game. It is good to be relax but I'm too much relax.

I have nice result while I could have exceptional if I start to consider that as a real job.

I will call the day over. I really need to improve my behavior.

Just so I am clear - you're finishing the day at +90. You're happy. You have not had a net negative day for the past 5 months...... but you think you have an attitude problem?

This trade is a perfect example of my inconstant behavior.

Went long at 11:30 at 31.78 (the signal is perfect, I was right to take it by my rule but it was wrong by a few bars, just a little too early). So I exit at 30.72 making a small lose a -6.

I should have stayed focus for a next entry. By my rules I was in a very hot zone for a good trade. And the good trade with a perfect signal appeared 5 min latter at 11:35. But I was not here... (I was writing a post and eating cookies...).

@xplorer

I make money because my signals are not completely stupid and because I do not stress in front of a screen.

But for example today I went take a coffee exactly when the market was red hot for good trade. I eat cookie just after a signal that tell me stay here you will have a nice one.

I don't want to make 2 cents psycho but it is like winning without having a real desire to win. I exaggerate a little but it is not the first time that I do that and quite honestly I do that almost every day.

Surely it is not my place to give you advice, but I've heard stories of other people who trade with what the late Mark Douglas defined as a 'carefree attitude' which sounds what you just mentioned.

If that's the case, I envy you even more.

As for having missed out, how many times does that happen, i.e. that you leave the screen just when there's a big move? Can you roughly quantify it, e.g. once every x times?
