How have the rest of you done this Week in CL, or after the FOMC, INventory numbers?

Im really dissapointed at going negative.
Starting to feel my setups are no longer valid.

Don't you guys think crude (and euro - WTF? ) is getting extremely overbought short term?

That was my "setup" yesterday.
Crude is crude, FOMC is FOMC, so spike was nothing else but quest for liquidity.

I wouldn't trade naked inventory #, it's very complex analysis. API, EIA, IEA, headlines, data vendors provide pieces of the entire puzzle.

A potential $10,000 trade but turned out to be a net $400 gain? What happened? I will get CL after lunch but it did not happened during my most productive time period 9 to 11 am eastern time.

short 45.94. I will get her one way or the other. May not be 100+ ticks on one trade becuase

1) $ at highs again.

2) Contracts rollover in play. All kinds of games get played during this time period.

I do not trade lunch hour so it's just a scalp for 40 ticks.

I traded 3 on this move higher, average fill was 42, closed at 68, 80, 85. No setup, just caught the move. Spreads were suspiciously strong.

Flat 45.40. My Brian finally got rid of what happened yesterday and i have started trading based upon what's happening now. Prior day, week etc still are in context but a day trader has to adjust.

I thought you are a swing trader and do not day trade. Any way, Glad the trade worked out.

Yes, I am a swing trader. But often trade small positions intraday on separate account if I see a bargain.

Today is Quadruple Witching for the US. How have you guys noticed this effecting CL?

Price Action will be like yesterday. Tight ranges for hours. ATR of around 100 ticks. My RULES for days like today or yesterday are as following;


1) Tight stop loss have no chance.

2) Do not initiate new longs once price has moved 60-100 ticks.

3) Do not iitiate new shorts once price has moved 60-100 ticks.

These RULES get thrown out of the window, if massive buying or selling comes in the market. On Quadruple days- indicators give more false signals than any other day. Traders looking for ticks get hosed on days like today. Just when it looks like CL is going down 30 ticks, it moves bback up 20 ticks, then goes down etc. Algos are in full control.
