Welcome to futures io.

Welcome, Guest!

This forum was established to help traders (especially futures traders) by openly sharing indicators, strategies, methods, trading journals and discussing the psychology of trading.

We are fundamentally different than most other trading forums:
  • We work extremely hard to keep things positive on our forums.
  • We do not tolerate rude behavior, trolling, or vendor advertising in posts.
  • We firmly believe in openness and encourage sharing. The holy grail is within you, it is not something tangible you can download.
  • We expect our members to participate and become a part of the community. Help yourself by helping others.

You'll need to register in order to view the content of the threads and start contributing to our community. It's free and simple, and we will never resell your private information.

That's interesting. What is in it for the refiner though, is all of their production numbers public info?

No it's not public info and your question is a good one. In most cases I believe Genscape are placing their monitoring equipment next door and paying that person to allow them to mount a pole/etc so they can monitor it.

Same old story. Only interested in shorts.

Shorting below 44 feels like beating a DEAD HORSE. Bounces are FREE GIFT for shorts. Imagine CL hitting 40 etc and there is no bounce? I will be hard pressed to initiate a new short. That's why i get excited when CL bounces.

Rules are the same regardless of trading instruement. One has to differentiate if he is stepping into GOLD mines or LAND mines. I shorted GC into this bounce. I want the biggest, baddest bounce within a mcro barish trend. Rather than worrying about when and from where the bounce will come, i just wait for it to show up. This is TAPE reading 101 with macro context behind it.

Trading

4 trades for the day.

1) Short 43.12 , add to short 42.81. Was looking for FLUSH DOWN but no go. CL reversed from 42.60 area. Had to cover to conrol damage. The trade was during Euro session.

2) Short 43.50 after NY open off ORH. Cover around 43.10.

3) After lunch saw CL above 44 area. The up move was slow and steady. Looked like CL is getting ready for next leg up. Went long 44.08. I was dreaming that CL will test 44.50 to 45 area. Wrong. This trade took away all the gains and put me in a hole. My plan was to short as CL flushes up. What a nice plan (lol) Get 50 ticks from the long side and then short for 100+ ticks after a FLUSH up. No Flush up just a head fake.

4) Short 43.82 and kept adding around 44 area. Cover some 43.40 and holding the rest after covering some more at 43.14.

Trading

Now that HEAT OF THE MOMENT is over, i am thinking and shaking my head. How can i be adding to shorts at 42.81 and why i would be initiating a new long at 44.08?
It always make sense after the trade/ day is over.

Helpful Hand

MFB, below is a video I was introduced to by a stellar CL trader, in his journal. I have found it very helpful to keep in mind on days like today...

Thanks TravisD. CL is at 42.41 and now i am thinking how come i did not hold all the cars on short from 43.90 area? Like most discretinary traders i get carried away.

By the way- finding edges of a trade on day trading basis is very difficult. That's why i sit and pray for bounces all day.
