CL Flash Crash 05062010

Would you have been long short or flat just before the crash?
I would call that a flash cash.

Imagine that crash occurring during an uptrend due to unforeseeable technical problem or news flash so devastating that even real time news still leaves you in trouble ... some pernicious events cannot be avoided.

Though I will be happy to do so in the future, please don't ask me offer up one of my historical bad trades for all to see!

I would be interested to see if someone has a different daily bar chart view than the one I've posted. Would enjoy the healthy discussion around it, and enjoy seeing a fresh perspective.

yes and thank you

Fair day on CL.

15min Hidden Divergence up against the previous high before the open showing downside strength.

Nice 5 and 15min divergence at the LOD.

1 min chart played well into the close.

Things are setup for an interesting day tomorrow

If you want in and out quickly and easily, hit the buy or sell at market button. Its instant. No guarantees on where you get filled in a fast moving market but you can get in. Same with getting out....just click the close button. Instant.....no worries.

Now if you are trading large size and trying to enter at a single price with a limit order. Thats another issue altogether....but I doubt most on the forum are trading enough size to make a difference in CL. I have a buddy that used to trade at an energy hedge fund and they routinely traded hundreds of lots at a time.....but they didn't care about exact prices....and they entered in batches......

"If you want in and out quickly and easily, hit the buy or sell at market button."
Thanks Panda that gave me a laugh!
I was not asking about order type and should have been clearer.
I only very rarely participate in forums at all, simply because I trade intensely all day.
I have only had time for a forum over the past week due to a codeine prescription.
I have, I think wisely, decided that codeine and intense trading don't mix.
I think that also explains my excessive use of the smiley!
Anyway, by next week, I will be trading intensely all day and living life outside forums the rest of the time.
The question presumed a familiarity with CL and order types.
I have my own extensive experience of CL and just wanted to hear from others about their experiences of issues such as the relationship between slippage, size, bar characteristics, time of day, pernicious news event behaviour, etc.
So anyway, the heart of the question was whether other people have noticed CL idiosyncrasies regarding any of those issues.
The question did not arise from ignorance, lack of experience, or naivete.
The question was intentionally simple to elicit any experiences anyone wants to mention.
I don't expect to hear much if anything from anyone about such issues given the emerging concurrence of opinion about CL.
Lots of I I I
I thought I
ought to clarify!
adieu
kind regards oceanbreeze

Money is where my mouth is.

93.00 potential inflection point here. I'm flat.

Hello oil traders,

do you define the ON session for CL as
2:30 PM - 9.00 AM EST?

One of my worst enemies are my own false assumptions

I do. Anything outside of RTH is O/N for me.
