I just have a basic Dell T3500 with an Intel Xeon, nothing special. It handled it with no problem. It comes down to platforms as well. I was using Sierra Chart with IQ Feed and X_Trader for OE. Both handled the move no problem.

@Private Banker Ben - you mentioned you had an Intel Xeon - those actually aren't anything to scoff at .. Do you know which one specifically it is..? I will be building a comp soon and just wanted to get some ideas. It should say it right there on the start menu Properties... I thnk..

I totally agree that the Platforms are major part of the equation.

~Thanks!~

OK, the specifics I believe are: Intel Xeon W3505 @ 2.53GHz

I'm sure there are far more advanced processors now as my PC is a few years old now. I'll probably start thinking about upgrading it soon as well. I'll admit that I'm not savvy with the technical PC stuff but what I do know is if you're using a computer for just charting and data, you really don't need those crazy over clocked computers unless you're running some crazy HFT algo. A decent processor with the highest internet connection and a stable platform will work very well.

I traded on this PC during the flash crash of 2010 and it handled it no problem.

Best of luck!
Ben

I posted my specs here....

It's true you don't need a super fast gaming machine capable of over locking but if you are going to build a trading PC then build something that lasts. Also, for data retrieval the SSDs are a must have.

Thanks for posting the Dalton vid too CJ, I forgot that he was on TST recently. I'm really considering subscribing to him, I'm almost fininshed his second book and so much of what he articulates resonates well with me.

The added benefit is that he is an avid CL trader as well.

Anyone here subscribe to his daily updates?

Cheers,

XS

Can you please explain why you wanted to short the open. What did you see that made you want to short the open?

We opened within yesterday's range and I don't see any significant reference point there. Thanks
