Hi everyone,

I am looking for a good data feed and broker to work with Multicharts, which seems the easiest transition for a Tradestation user.

I would like to trade futures in both the German and Italian markets. I heard about Interactive Brokers, which supports both, but on this forum I read that their data feed is not very reliable for intraday bars and that their fill time could be better.

Do you know some solid alternatives that are supported natively by Multicharts?

Thank you for your help!

Hi elvis81,

I also an IB account and Multichart as the charting/trading platform. In addition to the IB-Datafeed which covers only up to 100 Instruments, I ordered the E-Signal Datafeed and I'm very content with this.
It works very well and I have more security with this 2 sources.

Eddy

Hey Eddy,

thanks for your help!

I heard very good things about E-signal, even although it is probably not the cheapest option out there. I just chatted with their sales rep and they offer both the Italian and the German data feed, which is perfect for me.

Are you already running some automated systems with IB? I'm interested in knowing if the reliability of their platform is good enough for automated trading.

Danke schön! :-)

Personally I recommend DTN IQfeed. It is #1. I would put eSignal down further on the list but it all depends on your demands from a feed. I used to use eSignal and had no problems with it, until I became more demanding.

You can mention Big Mike Trading with DTN IQFeed and get the setup fee waived (I get nothing for saying this). You'll have to check with them though about the exchanges you are wanting as I am only familiar with the US exchanges. But I use it with MultiCharts and find it works perfect, as it did with NinjaTrader.

As for a broker, IB is not bad especially for international customers. If you don't intend to use a data feed from a broker then your selection of broker is more about how you are treated, the services they offer that you require (such as funding options in your currency) etc. You can skim the Brokers section of futures.io (formerly BMT) to see a list of popular ones discussed, and then contact them and go from there.

Mike

@Big Mike IQFeed doesn't provide Italian and German Exchange data, only eSignal does.

Take your Pips, go out and Live.

I did hear good things about IqFeed. The Multicharts sales rep I chatted with suggested it herself. Too bad they don't offer IT and DE markets.

I am going to search for alternatives to E-signal (if any) and let you know guys what I come up with.

Btw, thanks for the further input on IB. I am getting more confident about it. Still, I'll also investigate further on the broker side, to see if there are any alternatives out there that offer such a wide selection of European markets

There's CQG, but is real more expansive than eSignal.

DTN compares their data with esignal and CQG, I think I would rate esignal and CQG higher.

IB has a server in ZUG/Swissieland, meaning our datapackets for we europeans doesn't have to cross the ocean twice. It's kinda funny, we would trade something in europe that data gets send to the usa, we ask the data from the usa, send an order to the usa and they send it back to europe.

Talking about loosing an edge :-(
