Hi I am just getting back into trading futures (swing trader style). I'm a low volume trader who will do mostly full size contracts, I might do some ES. I would like to use the RT datafeed from a broker with no or minimal ongoing costs for my back testing EOD is fine but it's always nice to have the tick data. I know multicharts can use multiple data feeds for the same contract do you recommend just using the brokers datafeed for RT and pull down from google/yahoo for the EOD backfill is anyone doing that now that has advice? Multicharts doesn't appear to have an in application order entry at this time but which brokers have a clean lightweight app for it or do you just use a web browser and which brokerages would likely be the first to implement it once it's available.

I get to start from scratch here since my old Omega Supercharts is dead so I am looking for any and all advice for broker and data for use with Multicharts.

Thanks,
James

P.S. I don't do it yet, but I may want to look into Forex trading so if I can do that from the same account that would be a plus for me.

There is another thread on multicharts under platforms, there is good info on using multiple data feeds, etc. I'll just comment that if you are primarily swing trading and you want to trade currencies, then I would recommend using Interactive Brokers. The only downside is they don't offer historical tick data, so you have to leave your computer running, but unfortunately they also close you out once a day unless you are at your computer to change the time. For the most part it's not a big deal, but sometimes you will miss it and lose tick data. Otherwise commissions and fills are good, support is good, reliability is excellent, and you are trading real currencies, so you don't have to worry about getting screwed by your broker. You could also split your bankroll and have a dedicated futures broker and use IB for currencies, stocks, etc. to get the best commissions and mitigate your risk. I think some other people here also use MB Trading, which so far I have only heard good things about.
