the default intraday margin for Micro S&P (instrument: MES) is $50. Today (29th Decembre 2020) the intraday margin for MES is greater than $1000. How is that possible and what is the reason therefore? Logged-Off, NT8 restarted, but didn't help. Anyone else experiencing this today?
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I don't use them but I would expect that for any intraday margin changes any broker would either send you an email with a heads up or publish those changes on their website.
Have you tried/received any of that?
If not, you can always get in touch with their support or ask the user account NinjaTrader here on FIO directly.
and it shows the expected $ 50 intraday margin. But today this seems not to be effective ? Why? anyone with NTB brokerage and Phillip Capital and traded MES today? If so, please can you have a look what the column "intraday margin" under ACCOUNTS tab shows if you have currently a position open ?
I appreciate the contact and your effort. Thank you very much for contacting me via PN. To answer your question honestly: no, I will not share my private email address as requested. Of course I can contact the NT support myself, that's not the point at all, but rather: I just wanted to find out if this margin increase only affected me (i.e. customer related) and the possible reasons for this. Obviously, it was not a general margin increase due to critical market level and high volatility, which affects all customers, because other customers were not affected by this. I have been able to clarify this in the meantime after several conversations with other NTB customers.
It is more than fair that Ninjatrader Brokerage offers more transparency to potential new clients by openly and directly communicating and explaining about such possible restrictions. After all, if potential customers knew upfront that NTB can and will set case-specific customer margin requirements, they certainly would not choose NTB. If NTB advertises appropriate low margins, then they should deliver on that. That's how they advertise.
