I was wondering what are the best futures platform/broker alternatives to Tradestation for Canadians? In particular, I'm interested in a platform that has an easy to learn programming language and has similar backtesting/automated trading capabilities. I have a US Corporation but they said I wouldn't be able to open an account with them and the only thing I'd be able to do as a Canadian is to lease the tradestation platform for simulation purposes @ $99/month.
I'd be looking at programming and trading intraday as well as swing trade systems.
Also, what are the key features that are unique to Tradestation only that other platforms don't offer.
I would appreciate your input. Thank you.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
You can go with Multicharts and a Canadian broker like Interactive Brokers Canada or many other US brokers. MC is extremely similar to TS. They both use EasyLanguage as their programming language.
Hello @smarttrades101. We can house Canadian residents with US corporations at Cannon Trading. We offer a variety of solutions for our Canadian clients. With the back testing / Automated trading capabilities
Sierra Charts with CQG Data feed (basic as Excel to C++)
Or even the CQG Integrated (expensive option and you will receive full support from CQG staff) or CQG Q Trader platform but you will need to know programming.
Just some food for thought. Thank you!

Are there any brokers that Canadians can open accounts with that offer Sierra Charts? Also, what are the main differences between Sierra vs Multicharts?
I would say that Multicharts has a more modern look, great display of charts and customized dom.
It's a strength is in programming automated scripts.
Sierra is great for those who trade volume profile, customized DOM, ability to connect to Excel.
However, both serve the needs of beginners in a great way.
In my opinion, you will not go wrong with either one.

Is Multicharts platform based on EasyLanguage and Sierra charts C++ language? I'm basically looking for a platform that I can program strategies in EasyLanguage, backtest them and trade them off the platform as well.
Multicharts is based on Powerlanguage which is compatible with Easy language.
We always ask Multicharts to give our customers discounts for the license and would be glad to help you.
Thanks,
