Hi all i am currently on TOS. Trying to shift to NT8
The bad experiences: its very limited in programming. its a scripting language with very little help. I know NT has c# as a base so that helps
Tos is not able to add automated label to yesterdays high, RTHL , RTHH , ONL, ONH ect... can NT do it? I have to every day in the morning create an excel sheet to look at it manually because it hard to keep a track on many windows or charts that i have opened. I have to actually enter it manually all the values on all the charts i am looking at. Can NT do it automatically or you have to type the numbers in also if you have to type in all the number is there an easy way to recall it instead of typing it every-time
Volume profile: can NT automatically identify Value area high and low
Can i draw volume profiles in min, hr or daily ect. ie that it looks similar to window trader
How easy is it to program?
how good is the footprint is it as good as the market delta and what are the limitations
thanks a lot for all responses

NT8 can do everything you mentioned with some third party add-ons or some programming on your part. There are many examples in the help file just hit F1.
I suggest downloading it and playing around. It's free. Only costs if you want to actually place trades with it as it's connected to your broker.
I feel it relatively easy to program but I have been messing around with NinjaTrader for a long time now.
Sigh, i had cut and copied my reply that i deleted in the other thread you posted in but now its missing.
So in a nutshell.......
If you want a platform to place trades on thats super easy to understand, navigate, and charting NT by far is the best. Its ease of use for placing orders, dom or chart is awesome, customizing session templates is a breeze making custom atm orders is super easy as well. I dont program but form what i hear from others who program they love NT for that and thats about it for anything good from them.
The most annoying thing that pisses me off about NT is if you want anything xtra its a add on fee or find a free version of what you are looking for on here and there is alot of free stuff here for NT.
Want to use market replay? expect pain in the ass downloading day by day alot of clicking or pay for a add on called market replay downloader which is awesome to use but another BS add on that u need to pay for.
Want volume profiling? there is a crap verson of it on NT already and i mean shit, once again pay add on or find one here for free.
Delta? haaaaa once again pay add on or find for free
MP? pay add on or find a free one
Any other usefull current tool you can think of? mite as well just class it as pay add on or find free.
They have alot of default indies but alot of them are junk i think "to me"
Oh vwaps? pay add on or find for free
What im trying to get at is you can find almost all this stuff on here but what does that tell you about NT? pay for the basic and to get anything xtra is a add on fee from them or 3rd party vendors which alot of them i think are tied into the company imo.
Prime example= the market replay data download issue its such a easy fix for them someone has already shown what works, NT just has to make the dam thing and label it there own but they don't....i wonder why?
One of the most annoying things about NT is when you are in market replay you can choose to fastforward or you can use the slider or just change dates. IF you use fastforward you will not lose any data results you have up to that point buuuuut if you by happen to mis click and hit the slider which is right next to the FF button you lose all ur data results poof its all gone!
So say your in market replay and doing a i dunno 4 month replay set and your goal is to see your total results at the end, If you mess up and hit that slider or mis click anywhere on the slider box you have to start all over, it reloads replay and resets and trust me it happens alot lol.
So while there are some great things about NT there are some very annoying things, cost things and shit that just pisses you off about the company.
Take SC or Investor rt for example, vp, mp, delta, vwaps and anything else you can think of you get it with one purchase, market replay as far as i know is a breeze in both.
Yes im a current multi broker license holder with NT and it was great for me to start off with but now as i grow i hate it.

Yes this is a business that has many costs associated with it. As most do save for the lemonade standish types.
An example with NinjaTrader: I have been using it for over 6 years now. Paid $1350 lifetime for multi-broker if I remember correctly. Then first tools I bought were Rancho Dinero for $750 lifetime.
Sierra Charts Advanced features at, let's call for sake of argument $35/mo (looks like it's currently $36/mo), for 6 years would be so far $2520 with no end to the monthly fees.
Yes I have bought some other tools too like Jigsaw and CDA.
With NT8 being such an improvement over NT7 this has been an excellent investment in my business.
