Does anyone have information on where the order/trade servers are located for Interactive Brokers?
When connnected to IB (IB Gateway/Ninja), my PC connects to
gw1.ibllc.com (208.245.107.3) in New Jersey
gw2.ibllc.com (208.245.107.4) in New Jersey
gw1.chicago.ibllc.com (8.17.22.31) in Chicago.
I plan to trade futures (Energy/Metals). I am assuming that perhaps the two servers in New Jersey are quote servers and the server in Chicago is a order/trade server, however, perhaps they all are both quote and order/trade servers.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
You should ask IB support directly.
It seems that since some time, the Chicago market gateway, which was only used for the paper accounts earlier, can now host the live account. From what I know, all these market gateways have the same role.
If you want to use the Chicago server, then you should ask IB support to move your account (which is in CT by default for US customers) to Chicago.
