I got a statement from Dorman so it seems the transfer just went through.

Can someone resume the fees with trading with Dorman? I think I saw there was a $10 monthly fee.

I still plan to open a 2nd account just because I don't trust Mirus any more.

I think you have to ask your broker for the fees. It the broker who can give you exactly the round term fees for the
futures you want to trade. Some are calculating the fees on the number of trades you make

Calls to Mirus go unanswered after a 5 minute wait. So I sent my account rep an email and will keep trying them via phone. But I think I need to open an account elsewhere.

I've gone from a Mirus, no regrets

* If investing gets too difficult for a seventh grader to understand, the system is needlessly complex
* Markets produce an enormous volume of information, much of which is redundant
* In every game and con there's always an opponent, and there's always a victim. The trick is to know when you're the latter, so you can become the former

Received today from mirus.

Dear Mirus Futures Customer:
As you are aware, your account was introduced to Rosenthal Collins Group ("RCG"), by Mirus Futures LLC ("Mirus"), a registered independent introducing broker located in Chicago. As an independent introducing broker Mirus cleared its accounts through several registered futures commission merchants ("FCMs"), including RCG and Dorman Trading LLC ("Dorman"). However, Mirus is now a guaranteed introducing broker of Dorman, and so must clear all of its accounts through Dorman.
Mirus moved its accounts to Dorman on or around close of business January 24th, 2014. However, neither Dorman nor RCG is able to service your Canadian account going forward, and so RCG must close your account and return your funds to you.
Please complete the attached International Funds Transfer Authorization form and return it to RCG at [email protected] or fax it to (312) 795-7948 prior to the close of business on Friday February 14, 2014 so that we may return your funds to you.
Sincerely,
RCG Compliance

Why do so many US brokers do not accept Canadian customers?

Is there a law or anything else?

I am just curios because I read it a couple of times now.

I had the same experience as you. Closed my account with RCG, received my funds, and then got an account statement from Dorman a couple days later showing zero balance. Ridiculous since I never agreed to an account with Dorman!

This must have been a bulk transfer and an administrative entry.
If I am not mistaken, there is a grace period as far as you providing information and filling out the form.
After that, it is auto closed. Again, check with clearing as I go off memory.

Matt

Good question, I'm curious too. My guess is that if Canadians were allowed to open accounts with US brokers, then Canadian brokers would probably lose all their local customers..

Hi Matt, thanks for your post #1191. I was sure that the FCMs would not want to close their Canadians' accounts, if they could do so. Was just curious about what are the laws/regulations that prevents that..so your reply kinda sums it up..
