Anyone know where I can obtain historical stock symbol lists, e.g. a list of stocks that were trading on the NASDAQ on Jan 1 2010, Jan 1 2011, etc.? Current lists are easy to obtain, but I'm trying to prevent survivorship bias in my trading systems. thanks!
Edit: I found this website premiumdata.net that offers "Delisted US Data History back to 1985" for a one-time fee of $232. Since there doesn't seem to be a free source I may have to go this route. It's a shame basic data like this aren't publicly available. Anyone know of a free alternative?
