Hi arnie,

I'm glad I have you to keep me on my toes! Those symbols are for AMEX (NYSE_MKT) so pretty thinly traded and match wsj.com:

NYSE MKT New Highs & Lows - Markets Data Center - WSJ.com

Try these for NYSE:

FINH.Z - NYSE NEW 52-WEEK HIGHS
FINL.Z - NYSE NEW 52-WEEK LOWS
JFNT.Z - NYSE NEW 52-WEEK NET
FRNT.Z - NYSE NEW 52-WEEK RATIO

We show FINH.Z at 51 and FINL.Z at 30, which are also close to what wsj.com shows for today:

NYSE New Highs & Lows - Markets Data Center - WSJ.com

Thanks.

Robert

You need to tell the guys that create these indicators that they should better named them.
It would be a lot easier if they called it NYSE-AMEX, for example.
Who would know that NYSE_MKT refers to AMEX and not NYSE itself?

Thanks for your support Robert.

Not saying you should know this, but it is often referred to as such. And it's on their web site, for example:

1) @Robert Carrillo, any chance we get a 2 year treasury yield anytime soon? We have 5, 10, 30 (FVX.XO, TNX.XO, TYX.XO), but no 2 year, which is quite an important part of the curve right now

2) I see 24-hr yields being calculated and posted by the likes of CNBC, WSJ, etc. However, the above-quoted symbols for 5, 10, and 30 are only calculated during the pit hours of 8:20am to 3:00pm ET. Is there any possibility of calculating the yields around the clock, and if not, can you explain why?

Thanks!

Hi josh,

CBOE sent notice last Dec that they were going to stop providing those indexes eff Mar 31, followed by a notice in Jan that they would continue after all but not sure for how long.

DTN doesn't calculate the yields, we simply provide the data CBOE transmits. They don't provide a 2-year yield, if they did we would offer it along with 90 day, 5, 10 and 30 years. The yields are updated during CBOE trading hours.

You can get daily yields from the Treasury: Daily Treasury Yield Curve Rates

Regards,

Robert

@Robert Carrillo,

VRCT.Z and VRET.Z seem to be the only two symbols relating to put/call ratios.

Given that the CBOE releases several p/c ratios data every day on their website ( CBOE - Put/Call Ratios ) for free, why does IQFeed not have all of these?

The main ones are equity p/c, index p/c, and total p/c. Which one of these does VRCT.Z and VRET.Z match?

The CBOE does not include the put/call ratio in the feed, a list of the indices provided by CBOE are available at https://www.cboe.org/MDX/MDI/MDIProducts.aspx

DTN calculates the put/call ratios by processing the data for all of the stocks, there are thousands of contracts used in these calculations. If we have requests from customers for calculating additional ratios we can look at adding to the existing DTN Calculated Statistics. We would need to decide if the additional work involved in generating additional put/call ratios is worth the time and processing power if the CBOE posts the data for free.

We can provide the data for the puts and calls, and a subscriber can calculate any proprietary ratios he would like.

Regards,

Robert

We have been experiencing issues with users connecting. The issue is outside of the DTN network. DTN is working with our carrier to get the issue resolved as quickly as possible.

Hi @Robert Carrillo

NYSE Composite (NYA.X) accordingly to NYSE site, yesterday (06/03) traded 2,383,202,000 shares.

Can you tell me if IQFeed's VINT.Z (NYSE ISSUES VOLUME TOTAL) symbol is the equivalent of the NYA volume?
For yesterday, VINT.Z shows a volume of 445,520.

If VINT.Z is not the NYA equivalent volume, can you tell me which symbol is?

Regards.

Hi arnie,

Sorry for the delay in replying, I've been out of pocket.

I think what you're looking for is VI7T.Z (NYA COMPOSITE ISSUES VOLUME TOTAL). It is in 1000's, so add 3 zeroes.

Thanks.

Robert

Is it possible that maybe you could list possible causes for loss of data so that we may better understand how these things happen. I have a similar thing happening with my Kinetick feed for the ES 06-14 contract daily volume. When I called I verified that it was not my machine as my Kinetick technical support rep had the exact same number for Daily Volume as I did. The problem is that this was off considerably from the CME provided numbers which closely matched TD Ameritrade volume. (Didn't do a screen capture of TD Ameritrade volume as I thought Kinetick numbers were better until yesterday.)
Screen capture is from today 6/11/2014

Thank you so much for the help.

@Robert Carrillo, on a related note, for @ES#C I am showing 874K total today, and CME shows over 1M. Rollover is tomorrow so don't know if it's related, but it's not right I think.

Thank you for the posts on futures.io (formerly BMT). I see a few volume questions on this thread. If there are specific questions we would be happy to help address these.
Feel free to contact us at support@iqfeed.net or 800.779.7299; 402.255.8787 and our customer service teams will help you.
IQFeed provides trade volume and cumulative volume updates with each trade message. The CME website referenced provides volume 10 min delayed but includes option volume for the contract as well. There could be a discrepancy in a comparison versus realtime data or delayed if the volume is for the futures.
The breakout of options vs futures is also available on cmegroup.com for daily volume.
I posted a picture of IQFeed daily volume using DTNiq Time and Sales versus the website voume and yesterday's volume if you wanted to review.
Please feel free to contact us for support if you need it.
Thank you
Mike

@DTN IQFeed / @IQFeed James, you have the VRCT.Z symbol, which is the CBOE total put/call ratio. You also have a VRET.Z, which is equity p/c but it includes indexes. You do not seem to have equity only P/C ratio, which is really the one that most people would need. Am I right or do you offer it? Unfortunately it cannot be computed using the two you offer. The data is right here on CBOE, which is why I'm surprised you don't have it (under "Current," it is the third item):

CBOE - Put/Call Ratios

Josh - Thank you for the question.

VRET.Z is the Put/Call Ratio for Stocks and ETF’s not indices.
VRCT.Z is the Put/Call Volume for all options on CBOE

We do not provide a Put/Call values for “equity only” without ETF’s. There choices are equity & ETF or Total (equity, ETF and Indices).

You can use VCCT.Z for total Call Volume (equities, ETF’s and indices) or VCET.Z for total Call Volume Equities and ETF’s. Similarly, you can use VPCT.Z for total Put Volume (equities, ETF’s and indices) or VPET.Z for total Call Volume Equities and ETF’s.

Comparing yesterday’s close prices provided by IQ for the Total Volume figures to the data on CBOE website is similar

VCCT.Z: 2340
VPCT.Z: 1728
VRCT.Z: .7385

CBOE Web Site:

I hope this helps.

@IQFeed James, thanks for your quick reply. What would be most helpful would be to provide the equity put/call ratio found on the CBOE web site to iqfeed cboe subscibers. Is there any chance of this? And if not, why would it not be available, since the others are?

No, he's saying that the IQFeed data for total p/c matches the CBOE, which I would fully expect. By comparison, the equity-only P/C ratio for Monday August 11 was 0.57, and the total P/C ratio is 0.74. The VRET.Z includes ETFs and has a value of .87 for this day.

I can't speak for other traders, but the equity P/C ratio is most useful, since it filters out the skew of ETFs which have no meaning when they are coupled with equities. I would bet that most traders prefer to use this.

Any follow up on this request? Is it on the list of things to add?

josh View Post
@Robert Carrillo,

1) Is there a symbol for today's new highs (and one for new lows)? I see 52-week highs/lows etc., but not for today only.

2) I don't think you have this, but I'd like to request an index that esignal provides. It is the percentage of stocks (NYSE, NASDAQ, or all) whose last traded price is above their VWAP. So a reading of 42.75 would indicate that 42.75% of all US stocks are trading above their VWAP for the day.

3) While I'm requesting, having an intraday calculated index of new highs minus new lows would be amazing. Just like advance-decline, except for high-low. So if the stock makes a new high on the day, add 1 to the index. For a new low, subtract 1. For neither, which will be the case most of the day, do nothing.

What do you think?

Thank you @IQFeed James, sent you a private message.

So to summarize the wish list:

1) CBOE equity only P/C ratio

2) Percentage (or number) of NY/NASD stocks (2 different indexes, excluding ETFs, preferreds, etc) trading above their daily VWAP.

3) Intraday new highs/lows for NY/NASD stocks. So during X seconds, how many stocks made a new high on the day, and how many made a new low?

4) New highs/lows for periods besides 52-week (1 day, 1 month, 3 month). So for example, if a stock prints above the prior trading day's high, it gets a +1 for the day, and similar for lows. Much like advance/decline but for high/low. Same for if it prints above the highest high in the last calendar month. Etc.

I'm sure it seems like a lot but I'm sure the logistics are already there for some of this, and it simply needs to be computed. You have the hardware and it would take a fraction of its computing power, which is more than I can do easily by myself. And I'm sure others would love it, so it would justify the effort.

Josh, these are excellent suggestions. Thank you. We are working to see where we can get this into our priority/development list. I can tell you now that the equity only PC ratio likely will come first as development is already working on this one. I have forwarded the other suggestions through the proper channels for further review. If you have any more great ideas, we would love to hear about them! We are always looking for new ways to enhance the value of DTN IQFeed for our users.

Thanks a Million!

James

Mike, good question. I'm not 100% sure, but I think you may be referring to either TICK or TRIN. If so, we do have these. If not, please provide a little more detail.

Thanks!

Mike is referring to a cumulative sum of TICK values. IMO it would need to be done intraday. Summing 1 minute values would be sufficient for a long term view, but summing your 1 second intervals would be most useful intraday.

If TICK values are (unrealistic but giving an example only):

9:30:01 200
9:30:02 210
9:30:03 50
9:30:04 -100
...

As of 9:30:04, the cumulative tick would be 200+210+50-100 = 360

This one would be good but is not difficult to calculate using most software, as it is based on a single existing indicator, TICK (JTNT.Z for NYSE tick for example). The others require using thousands of stocks to calculate so are nearly impossible for the average user to do so himself.

Josh, thank you for the explanation. Currently, we don’t provide a cumulative tick as you described in this post. It would be quite easy to calculate this in most 3rd party applications or Excel. It is definitely something we can put on the wish list however.

Thanks again!

James

Just wanted to share an IQFeed tip for those who rely on this data feed for their trading: if one of the invoices fails due to a unspecified payment error with the credit card, you lose access to your IQFeed data feed within 24 hours. This happens even after you contacted IQFeed support to ask them why the payment was not processed and even after you've been a reliable customer for over two years.

Equally annoying are the uninformative error messages like the email saying "charges been unsuccessful" and in the online portal "Payment attempt failed - payment failed. (Code: )" (with an empty error code).

Did other futures.io (formerly BMT) users also experienced this? What can cause this? My credit card is not expired and invoices from other companies work fine.

Interesting, I received an email from them when my monthly payment failed due to credit card expiration.
I went to the online customer page, add the new number and from there things were fine. Have been charged ever since without any problem.

Have you contacted customer services again regarding the payment failures? That might be some temporary issue with servers or stuff like that.

If I become half a percent smarter each year, I'll be a genius by the time I die

Thanks for thinking along. My card expires in two years, and the numbers on the online customer page are correct.

I've asked support what the cause was of the failed payment, but so far we've only touched the basics (like is the credit card number correct). It has not been straightforward so far, that's why I thought someone here might have an idea.

IQFeed Support
Our Cash Applications Department is having issues processing the payments (...)

It took a while (a long while compared to how responsive IQFeed normally is) but the cause seems to be known now. At least it's not caused by my credit card.

Can't say I'm very satisfied that, because of an issue outside of my influence, I still cannot use the IQFeed data feed. But I hope that it is switched back on today.

(...) But I hope that it is switched back on today.

Today is the third day without IQFeed data, and it still isn't solved. Communicating with IQFeed support has been an exercise in patience:

IQFeed Support email
Our Cash Applications Department is having issues processing the payments (...).

me
Do you might know when I can login again? Currently the 'IQ Connect' app keeps saying "your password is incorrect".

IQFeed Support email
Do you have your account number or email on you use for your account?

me
My account number is xxxxx.

IQFeed Support email
Your password is xxxx.

me
I know what my password is and I have entered this correctly.

But I cannot login anymore after your Cash Applications Department had trouble processing my monthly payment. Since then I get the error message 'login failed - your password is incorrect'.

Perhaps the ninth email today will turn my data feed back on.

Hello Jura, I apologize for the inconvenience. I'm not 100% sure why this is happening, but I will find out. In the mean time I will send you a temporary userid#/pw so you can continue access to our feed. If this EVER happens again do contact me directly and I will make sure that you don't have any disruption of service. We take situations like this very seriously and understand how important it is to make sure that our feed is kept on for our users.

We appreciate you notifying us of this issue. Thanks for your patience.

I will contact James directly, because the communications have gone from bad to worse:

Me
I know what my password is and I have entered this correctly.

IQFeed Support email
Can you confirm you have closed the Multicharts and the IQ Connection manager in the Task manager 1st , then start the Multi-charts.

If you are using any other icon it will not start.

Me
I had all MultiCarts processes closed. Then when I started it up, the IQ Connect Login showed, saying again that the password is incorrect.

Should I retry it in another way?

IQFeed Support email
To change the Password, you will need to start the Quote manager only, then go to tools, data sources, High light the IQFEED and click on settings on the right side. Change the password and say OK and close the Quote manager down. Then start the Multicharts up, it will pass the login and password to the IQconnect and login.

(Since my payment still isn't processed in the online portal, I guess that causes the login issue.)

Thanks for the offer, much appreciated. I've already set up IB data as a replacement and I'm not very convinced this payment/login issue is fixed within 24 hours, so I rather keep it as I have for now.

Thanks again for your patience. I would like to get this resolved for you ASAP.

As an update, James got me access again to the IQFeed data feed with half an hour. That's very impressive, and he's been very helpful and informative.

Also thanks for Mike for having these kind of AMA topics: otherwise I'd still have miscommunication with general IQFeed support.

Moral of the story: The communication trouble I had with the general IQFeed support is probably due to the fact that three different people answered my emails and that seemingly each did not knew what the others knew. futures.io (formerly BMT) users with IQFeed problems can much better contact James directly.

A lesson learned.

We recently had our credit card canceled when VISA noticed a few fraudulent purchases. They immediately FedEx'd a new card to us "next day" after which I had to go through updating any auto-payment accounts that were pulling from the old card (including IQFeed). This did unfortunately happen on literally the day that IQFeed typically bills my account but I simply updated my CC info online and sent them an Email asking to retry were there any issues (and I did receive an Email from them stating as such anyway). They were able to retry without issue using the new card so I never had any loss of data.

Kudos to DTN/IQFeed - still very glad I chose them as my data provider (though sorry to hear Jura had issues....)

Hi James.

Support is lagging a bit... Sent an email 3 days ago and no reply yet...
Not an urgent issue but usually emails were always answered in the same day...

Anyway, can you tell me which days does IQFeed rollover the Corn, Soybean and Wheat continuous contracts?
CME says the prior business day of 15th day of the contract month but does IQFeed follow the same rule with the equities rollover, 1 week prior the contract expiration?

Thanks.

Hi Arnie, we appreciate the question. I apologize that you haven't heard back from support as of yet. You're right that is a little strange for it to take this long. Which email did you use? I want to make sure you're getting the best customer service possible.

I'll have to check with our data support for you 1st thing Monday morning about the rollover contracts. Unfortunately I don't have the answer now.

Thanks for your patience. Be back in touch soon.

CME says the prior business day of 15th day of the contract month but does IQFeed follow the same rule with the equities rollover, 1 week prior the contract expiration?

Thanks.

Hi Arnie, thanks for your patience. Here is a link to our symbol guide to help answer your questions. All you will need to do is click the link for the desired exchange group and then find the specific instrument in question and review the section "Roll Rule Description"

Hi Arnie, thanks for pointing this out. I will inform our product developement of this. I don't have any book mark icons as well, we may not provide a icon for this use. However, I do have an icon on my shortcuts on my desktop for IQFeed.

Just a quick note/update that IQFeed has enhanced their futures.io (formerly BMT) Elite Partnership program.

Elite Members can now receive a 50% discount off the first 3-months or 20% off an annual subscription, both with no setup fee, to DTN IQfeed. This is for new DTN customers only.

You'll need this special link to take advantage:
https://futures.io/elite_membership/

Note: Big Mike Trading does NOT receive compensation for these referrals, we simply worked out these special deals to help our Elite Members who have chosen to support the site. Even though we believe these are great products and services, you should always do your own research before doing business with a company.

Is it possible to run IQfeed into two different charting software under one subscription?

E.g. Market Delta + Ninja/Jigsaw

All the best,

Yes, as long as they are on the same physical machine it works great and is one of many strengths of the way IQFeed was created.

That's awesome news,

I have an additional question:

The CME waiver gives futures market depth for $15 per month.

Does this require an additional purchase of the $20 market depth?

Cheers,
Turismo

Thanks for the feedback robert880, you can actually run IQFeed with as many programs as your PC can handle. There is no limit

Hello TurismoTek,

Thank you for the questions.

The CME non-pro fees are as follows with a funded futures account:

Level 1 CME Globex, COMEX Globex, NYMEX Globex or CBOT Globex = $1/mo each or ALL 4 Globex exchanges for $3/mo.

Level 2 Globex is $5/mo each or ALL 4 for $15/mo (Market Depth is Required for Level 2 at $20/mo in addition to these exchange fees).

Thanks again,
James

@IQFeed James, since the nyse/SIP debacle about an hour ago, I'm not getting quotes for amex or nyse issues ... nasdaq is fine as expected. Also no data for JTNT.Z and JT6T.Z is clearly not accurate for obvious reasons ... just letting you know. A report I saw quoted NYSE as saying it's all back to normal but I don't know if it's true or not.

Hey James,

sorry I think I wasn't very clear. It says "DTN IQFeed 50% off the first 3-months or 20% off an annual subscription, both with no setup fee, to DTN IQfeed3"

Can I clarify if this means that we get to enjoy 20% off IQFeed even past 1st year or does it just refer to 1st year of IQFeed subscription.

@androiduser14916, YES, you will continue to recieve the futures.io (formerly BMT) Elite 20% OFF pricing beyond the 1st year of service.

Thanks for the question.

Hi guys,

James To, the account manager for futures.io (formerly BMT) customers of IQFeed, has offered to give away the following for 1-year:

1. IQFeed core base service
2. USA real-time futures entitlement
3. Level II market depth

The above is for 1-year, so the value is $1320.00. Please note, exchange fees are not included.

Anyone is eligible. James will hold a drawing on January 15 2015 to pick the winner. In order to enter the drawing you'll need to send your first name, last name, and email address to James via email: james.to@dtn.com prior to January 15 2015.

I think it's a nice present for a lucky person this holiday.

If you end up not winning the drawing there is still a special futures.io (formerly BMT) Elite Member promotional price here:
https://futures.io/elite_membership/

Please note: Void where prohibited by law, and DTN's decision is final.

@Big Mike Thanks for your question - Unfortunately, we do not have a stat equivalent to this. However, that doesn't mean we won't in the future. These types of breath indicators are on our to do list for sure.

James, I just found out from a fellow trader that IQFeed offers a SAFEX datafeed. I wasn't aware of this but after some searching on your website, I was happy to find that he is correct: IQFeed - Safex

I am not currently an IQFeed customer but I see you offer a free trial. Is a free trial available for the SAFEX exchange, in particular the ALSI Index Future (ALJH15). I only ask to check if a trial is available for the smaller exchanges, not just the big ones.

Also, do your trials include historical data or only live?

Thanks, looking forward to hopefully giving your services a try.

@IQFeed James,

I am trying to find the Markit CDX North American High Yield Index but am not having any luck. Can you tell me what symbol it is?

I'm actually trying to find any/all high yield credit default swaps, not having a great deal of success finding matches in IQFeed's symbol lookup. I did find TYTE (ETF) but it isn't exactly what I am looking for.

@DarkPoolTrading, Thanks for the good questions. SAFEX is one of the exchanges that is offered as a free trial. You can access live data from the exchange for free as long as they offer a trial period as well, and almost all of them do.

@IQFeed James,

Mike

@Big Mike, Thanks for the question. We do not carry these Indexes at the moment, which appear to be proprietary.

We list one Markit Future, @WIG on ICE, but it has never traded and does not quote.

ICE has a link to once-a-day updates on some Markit indexes:

https://www.theice.com/cds/MarkitIndices.shtml

If you have any more questions let me know.

Thanks

James I would like to ask you what does the $ means in the symbols.
For example, what's the difference between these two?
DINT.Z NYSE ISSUES $ VOL TOTAL and VINT.Z NYSE ISSUES VOLUME TOTAL

Thanks.

@rhuz - Thanks for your question.

$ = “Dollar volume” multiplies the volume of a stock times its share price.

“Volume” is not influenced by the share price of the stock.

I hope this helps.

I have a problem with my feed not working today locally (Italy). As a test, I started IQ Feed on my VPS in London and that is working fine. I had no problem a couple of days ago connecting from Malta so this issue seems to be from this particular ISP. Has anyone else ever had something similar happen?

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the client and changed my local DNS to see that would make a difference. There is no real problem with the connection as I can RDP into the Windows 2012 R2 server with no problems.

When I run the IQFeed Diagnostics Utility it gets to a certain point and then seems to freeze.

I would love to hear any opinions on what might be happening.

Hi
i trade stock only - day trading and scalping.
i have broker feed IB interactice brokers and also Trademonster-optionhouse and MBtrading.
i also have your feed as i used before bid-ask software which need your feed.

i know from reading that IB feed is not great for HFT trading and they dont give all ticks-data
could you tell me more how much this (using IB feed in my softwares) could affect my order-flow-bid-ask traidng data. i dont make mili-seconds trades, but i also dont use 5 minutes charts.

could you tell something about MBtrading feed or Trademonster (now optionHouse)?

i know that IQfeed is top feed but its also expensive for me.
i now got the idea that i can get discount as Big mike trading Elite member. but i am not new costumer to you feed (have account). could you help me by this.

thanks
sharoni

@economist99, thanks for your questions. The main difference between IQFeed and IB is that we provide every single trade (tick by tick) and IB provides snapshot data, IB is great for executing orders but not recommended for use in your analytical charts due to their trade data being bundled together.

Unfortunately I don't have much knowledge about MBTrading or OptionHouse Platforms.

IQFeed is an excellent value in comparison to other data vendors, even more so with the Big Mike Trading Elite Member Rates. Feel free to contact me with any more questions and I'll be happy to put a data package together that will meet your needs and your budget.

Thanks

James

@IQFeed James I think I read somewhere that IQFeed provides daily Open Interest data for future contracts.

1) Is it possible to have this data in Ninjatrader platform?
2) If so how do you obtain it? Through a different instrument name?
3) If not in Ninja, is it available for MultiCharts?

@ElChacal,

Thanks for your questions. We do carry O/I data (daily, weekly, monthly) historical. However, I can’t speak specifically for NT and MC supporting the data. If you find that they don’t, our DTN.IQ client software provides this data for viewing, or you can use something like QCollector to access the historical data, write it to a file, and then do what you want with it. Another option is accessing the data via our API services.

Contact me if you have any more questions.

Thanks again

@voluma, thanks for your question.

We had originally planned to release by now but in the name of ensuring adequate communication to our customers as well as ensuring full QA testing we have held off. We will be providing updates periodically regarding these changes as they happen which can be viewed directly on our DTN Forum. I have included a link below to our forum page for your convenience.

Hi guys,

I want to introduce @IQFeed Dave to everyone. Dave Forss is the Business Development Manager at IQFeed and will be taking over the role of futures.io (formerly BMT) account specialist for all of our members.

A new IQFeed client is available (5.2.0.9) but:
- it seems it's in 32 bit, like the previous version
- I didn't found any release notes about it

I don't care using a 32 bit application but I found that when you download historical data for a lot of instruments in parallel the client is crashing (problem seems to occur around 1000 symbols in parallel, iqconnect.exe asking for around 1 GB). Maybe a 64 bit version would have been more stable under high load?

That's for @IQFeed Dave .

Hi Dave,

Does IQ Feed have any plans for Asian market data services in particular HKFE? There are not many options for unfiltered data in this part of the world and I'm sure there would be a heap of people who would subscribe if there was such an offering.

Correction to earlier statement. You guys have some of the Asian markets covered.

Cheers.
