Hi

I am a beginner using MC 8 and I just signed up for a trial IQ FEED account. I am trying to download historic data for @ES#C from 1 Jan 2012 till 21 Sep 2012 but find the backfill to be very slow. Tried minute and hourly bars but even after several hours the backfill is not complete. Recent data for the past few weeks come down quickly and the older data seem to be coming down slowly in chunks. My connection bandwidth is fine but I am wondering if my Norton 360 is causing this slowdown in the data transfer. Anyone had similar experiences?

Are you downloading tick data? They offer up to 120 days of tick data and that may take some time.

The IQFeed client offers a diagnostic utility so you may check the progress using that utility.

Thanks for your response. I think you are right .... MC 8 is downloading the last 120 days of tick data although I set up the chart to show hourly bars from 1 Jan 2012. Do you know how I can get IQFEED to send just minute or hour data for longer periods?

I think this has to be done in MC. Since I don't use MC I can't help you here.

I use Sierracharts and here you define the time unit for historical down loads. Maybe there is a similar setting in MC?

Problem solved -- MC Quote Manager has a setting for IQ Feed which allows MC to build minute and hour bars from tick data. Unchecking this box, however, does not solve the problem since MC will continue to download tick data for all the symbols for which tick data was downloaded in the past. As advised by IQ Feed's support desk, I deleted the symbol (@ES#C) and added it again. This solved the problem and I started getting minute and hour data.
