Hi Matt,

I'm new to Optimus and have a quick question for you. I'm using RTrader and I'm wondering if the account value shown is your actual current balance including commissions. Thanks in advance.

I would kindly ask to get in touch with us directly for technical support or platforms questions for Timely answers.
As for your question: RTrader has the ability to incorporate commissions into it, but we need to set it. Will PM you.

Trading futures and options involves substantial risk of loss and is not suitable for all investors. Past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results. You may lose more than your initial investment. All posts are opinions and do not claim to be facts. Please conduct your own due diligence. Use only Risk capital when trading Futures.

then I found this one so I thought I would just reply. Optimus is without a doubt Awesome! I spent an hour on the phone (yes an hour lol) last night with Matt getting my NT Platform set up..I deleted the doc files before I uninstalled the original NT and it created some serious bugs so Matt helped me work this out...he was even able to get his Rithmic guy on the phone for further support (we had to double check the user name and password to see if that was the problem) and this was @ 6:30 pm est. time. Matt, Kriss, and Jennifer are wonderful. They always answer the phone promptly and are super courteous. I was even able to get some personal trading advice from Matt. I just opened the account yesterday and it is up and running today..wow! Definitely check these guys out if your looking for a solid brokerage firm.

I agree 100%. Being I'm always a bit of a skeptic, I figured the service would drop off a bit after they got my business. I'm happy to say that several months later Matt still replies to my e-mails very quickly and won't hesitate to get on the phone with me if I need something . But what I'm really happy about is that since I trade primarily Oil and Russell contracts, I need superfast execution with minimal slippage.. The reason is I only jump into trades that are moving fast and have a lot of momentum, so it's nice to have such a reliable platform for these conditions. Glad you hooked up with them.

Folks
I just wanted to share a recent experience I had with Matt. Last week he emailed me out of the blue and asked what my commission on futures was. I told him and he lowered the rate by 20 cents per round turn. I want to stress I did not contact him and I am not a large volume trader by any stretch of the imagination. I am the prototypical small retail trader that can easily get lost in the crowd. I was absolutely floored that he did this, but I have to tell you it is not the first time....it is the third time in 7 months. I originally switched to Optimus from TOS with a promise of $5 round turn. Before the account was funded, Matt lowered the commission to $4.75. Later in the spring, it was lowered out of the blue and then last week came the third time......

For full disclosure, I have not been asked to make this post....I am doing it purely out of gratitude for a broker that has looked out for the small guy.....

Wait, isn't $5 round turn like one of the worst commissions out there? i believe most brokers start with around $3 - $3.5 these days for low volume traders and go as low as 1.80 (all inclusive) on large volume. can someone please tell me what their commissions are these days (any figures would help)?

hi,
so from what i'm reading on this forum i'm getting an impression that optimus has only a few workers that everyone is talking about: Matt, Jennifer, a tech guy and a new manager. So the logical question arises - how can they possibly provide all year around prompt support? no one ever gets sick or leaves the office? i'm a bit skeptical about all of the good reviews and no realistic ones... even though this could be true - the few workaholic brokers and a technician could be THAT good, I'm just a bit worried to rely on such small team... this whole great support thing might end the moment i sign up and relax... exactly when i need them most.
another issue - how big is the firm? from what i'm seeing they don't offer best commissions and i'm worried about their ability to compete with other larger brokers..
If anyone could give some sort of a real answer here - if perhaps i'm not getting the whole picture, i would appreciate it a lot.

We have been operating in a small groups for a very long time and this is something has helped us to get to know our clients, specialize and build a strong core of customer service for our clients. This focus has resulted in exponential growth. Most of our efforts (time and financial) are focused on support and building a better infrastructure.

The Chicago trade desk also assisting customers directly with the variety of platforms that we carry. The absence of one staff member has not affected the customer service. Luckily, the Rithmic connectivity that we have been utilizing has been stable for execution, and I hope that it will be like that into the future. We rarely have any down time with that.

Commissions: The commissions that we give are very reasonable; and I am not sure how you get the $1.80 when futures like currencies that are 3.20 RT from the CME alone…2.90 RT for Oil, etc. Consider this is just the CME and no connectivity fee, no broker fees, etc. Again, our rates are reasonable and flexible and we never had an issue competing even with the bigger guys out there.

As I have said many times before: I respect everyone’s choices when it comes to Brokers. If you prefer other brokers and we are not a match for you…no hard feeling. We want to focus on specialized attention, not just a general trade desk that many out there provide when they become big. We do service many customers that have also come to us from larger firms, competitors or chose us as their first broker. As we grow I also add staff to support the clientele.

I appreciate your concern for our ability to comepete, but we are ok.

Lastly, I am very sorry you feel that some of the reviews here are unrealistic because these are real folks with real trading experience. Optimus attracts decent and hard working folks, and every good word motivates me just to work harder seeing that people are appreciating our services.

This is one of the most polite and sincere forums, and you could learn so much here from other members about trading so I am puzzled why you made your first 3 posts about Optimus (raised eye brow, lol). We all here in this community respect each other’s choices about methodologies, platforms, and of course brokers.
I truly wish you well in your trading ad in your personal life.

respectfully,

Matt

ok, thanks for answering Matt,
i didn't mean to disrespect, those were some very valid questions. what happens if Rithmic does go down and ALL of your customers start calling? what if that same day you and others get a bad case of flu or something? this is not a personal attack.. just a question from someone who considered you as a broker. this was the first tread I've found on the internet about Optimus Group and I wanted to see what other customers would reply to my concerns. I appreciate your personal reply Matt. I hope Rithmic does well and you do well, too. And your company will grow. All the best.

We did have instances that customers lost their connectivity(like loss of their net connectivity), and we did handle it fine although it's a very stressful situation for customer and trade desk. I am not going to downplay the importance of support, but let me talk specifically about Rithmic: we have a centralized system that supports Rithmic and allwes us to see what net/net position that the customer is carrying (this is for us and the Chicago desk). you did have valid concerns, and I hope I alleviated some of your concerns.

We honestly prefer to handle all situation by phone, even if the smallest of technical or any help issue.
That way the customer could be specific and we can even do remote assistance if needed.
You could see support button on our site at the top of the page and this is where we provide remote access for more complex tech support. If someone is overseas and does not want to incur phone charges we could do Skype calls. (we provide that to clients).

However, online chat is not a bad idea for initial consultation so could implement that.
I appreciate the question.

Matt

Matt,

Five months ago I proposed this feature.
Any plan about it?

Regards
Paul
