Good luck..
But I still don't understand why you would want to pay a higher commission for nothing. Zenfire is not what it used to be. Their data is filtered just like every other broker. Your not getting anything out of this expect higher trading cost. You even said it yourself that your current broker is good..
But, it sounds like you already made up your mind and your seeking validation from other poeple.... Either way, their both fine and you can't go wrong.

I also do want to note that zenfire's technology really can't handle the increase in tick volume, thats one of the reason they HAVE to filter their data now. I've heard that zen couldn't keep up during the flash crash, but velocity TT feed handled it fine. I do have to note that transact also kept its own...
I have not verified about the zen problem during the crash, you need to check with other poeple on that

Here is a link to a video I made during the mini-crash, using a Zen-Fire Feed through Mirus. The DOM did not keep up, but the Time and sales seemed to, but that is a judgement call.

Again, Thank you for your input guys!

One of the main reasons I'd change from Velocity will be because of the NT-ZenFire solution they're offering. In terms of commissions, I'm not a scalper, and neither a high volume trader, so I don't really mind higher or lower commissions.

The reason I asked for lower commissions when I talked to Tony was to see how flexible they were in terms of making me come over to them.

I repeat, I still felt that he was dominant and arrogant. And it's not about being intolerant against such attitudes. It's simply about the balance of power.

They need me more than I need them, and that goes for all of you! Especially in this huge sea of brokers that's out there.
That's why I wanted to try out their "fast and best costumer support" as he put it, when I asked him why I should choose Mirus.

So far they have failed. And I'm not saying that because I "didn't like" that it took more then 13 hours and 3 emails in order to get an answer on my email. (And I did not ask for an account confirmation, I asked for a receiving confirmation).

I'm simply comparing with Velocity Futures. They answer within minutes, always!.

And I also believe that other people ought to be knowing about both good and bad experiences in matters that concerns all of us!

George

I don't think anything Tony can do now will rectify your impression of him/Zen so either get another rep or stay with velocity.

Hej Jerry,

Welcome to the forum. It's nice to see another Swede. We're not that many around

Nice spread huh? The thing is that most Mirus traders probably were watching charts/DOM and didn't pay much attention to T&S (until they got their account balance sheet that this).

Anyway, will not dwell on this, since it is covered by the flash crash thread.

I have been with Mirus Futures for over 3 years and have always found them easily accessable and polite. Tony is my broker and has always come back to me very promptly either by email phone or skype. Just my 2 cents fwiw

What you might be experiencing here is a clash of culture. I'm not trying to make excuses for them , but Chicago has a very, VERY different culture than most other places. I'm originally from Chicago, but moved away 25 years ago. When I'm there on business, I find all the people as a whole to be abrupt, rude and generally miserable to deal with. That is just the way they are there. Now that I've lived away from the windy city for so long, I can't stand to go back.

When I'm there (Thank god only a couple times a year!) I've learned not to take their attitude personally. I've been on jobs where I've been cussed-out and called every name in the book, then 5 minutes later they ask if I want to head out for dinner and drinks with them.... it's very confusing at first. I've come to learn that is just the way they communicate. No chit-chat and as little conversation as necessary. It can be quite unsettling for people from cultures that are more sociable.

This may not be comforting to you, but basically I'm saying "It's a Chicago thing". I think it's crucial that you have a good rapport with your broker/rep. You don't need either one of you to be uncomfortable contacting the other. I highly doubt if he will be offended if you ask to switch to another rep.

This is very true about it being a Chicago thing. Also, brokers that came from the floor in Chicago dont always make great customer service reps. Think about the type of manners you needed to have to trade the floor. Those guys do however, make great Brokers and tend to be more knowledgeable than Brokers form places outside Chicago.
