Any of you out there experienced in creating docker containers, can you recommend any tutorials, videos etc that would point me in the right direction to figuring out how to create a docker container for iqfeed.

As discussed above, the docker container from bratchenko use to work perfectly and all of a sudden broke. I haven't been able to get it working again so i've just been using Wine. Wine is fine, but for my use case I really need to run iqfeed without a gui,....just how it was used using bratchenko's docker container.

So i've started reading up on docker, trying to figure things out. But im such a beginner at this I have my doubts as to whether or not ill be able to figure out how to create my own one.

Any suggestions on tutorials etc would be welcome. Any things to keep in mind with the goal being to run iqfeed in a container?

Many thanks.

I'm not as up to speed on Docker as I should be.

That said, there is a way to get this working on a headless machine. I followed the instructions here https://github.com/macdice/iqfeed-debian and have it running on a headless machine. I did need to install xfce on the machine to get this working. Been running it for about 6 months this way without issue.

Thanks Eric, I'll have a look through this. This looks like it may be above my paygrade.

In the mean time, today I discovered using the -X flag when ssh'ing into the headless box where I want the iqfeed client running. Low and behold I can have the GUI part of iqfeed display on my local machine, but have it running on the server. That will do the trick for my needs for the time being.

Awesome. It never crossed my mind to use -X to bring the Xserver over to the local machine.

The walkthrough I linked to seems daunting but is actually quite straightforward after. Worth a shot if you find yourself with some free time.

I have made the app and version changes mentioned by @balance and can confirm it fixed the issue for me.

You see the changes here in my fork.

Latest working image pushed to

Hope it helps someone.
