Mirus just may be a shell of a company that was doing just great as long as everything ticked along"pun not intended".

There is a reason that Mirus can't cope. They are miserably understaffed and those staffers are miserably underpaid.
Hard to answer the phone or emails when you have a couple wankers standing around. And for all this jive about the pieces and parts of this industry...that is the problem...too many pieces and parts that don't leave me with a feeling of confidence.
But I digress...I lost 280,000 bucks while doing business with PFG...only a fraction of which I have recovered. That left a hefty crap taste in my mouth so I don't put a lot of faith in the industry as a whole.

You get what you pay for most of the time...so bottom feeding for lower commissions at the discount broker is nothing more than a race to the bottom. The day of the free data is probably over and traders are going to have to pay much higher prices for the privilege of entering the markets....

I started out in this business paying 1400/month for a CQG Satellite feed in addition to paying 47.50/round turn on the S&P.
Lower cost of trading has surely allowed the masses permission to trade from their bedrooms, but there is a point of diminishing returns...and the Mirus debacle is a prime example of that point.

I'm very sorry about that loss.

but here's the thing I don't understand. unless you were trading hundreds of contracts, why would you put that kind of money in a futures brokerage account. I know many will disagree, but here, one should take advantage of lower margins. there's already enough risk in the markets, you don't need more risk by leaving unused money in your brokerage account. today it shouldn't be difficult to transfer money.

having said that, hopefully mirus is not next.

Money shouldn't be at risk in a brokerage account! Should be like money in the bank, unless that's a risk too and it should be kept under the mattress or buried in the backyard.

Just to clarify guys, Mirus doesn't hold your money, the FCM does, ie Dorman or RCG.

That is the key ... it is not LIKE money in the bank ... It is not a bank ... I will always make it a point to
constantly withdraw my profits and put them in a real bank, only leaving the bare minimum to cover my
Maximum ever draw down I would accept in a month of trading.

How can anyone trust these clowns, man ... It's all Wall Street related. Take your profits completely out of
the markets

IMHO , of course

AMP just added it to it's Ninja offerings

but Optimus was/is providing NT + Rithmic at the top notch level for years

or do you prefer to do the business using the ignorant newbies? I'm serious.

I feel the same way you do . I keep min in my account I need for that week and then transfer profits back to my bank and lower my risk . I know if the FCM goes out of business it will a very long time to get some or part of my money back . Just look at MF Global a billion dollar company !!!!

That is true. Mirus isn't a clearing firm. I believe they use Dorman to provide Ninja Trader powered by Zen-Fire for their clients. I believe a lot of brokers who provided Zen-Fire used Dorman as their clearing firm. I know Cannon Trading Company uses Dorman to provide Zen-Fire data feed to their clients. But I also know Cannon provides other data feeds for Ninja Trader like Rithmic and Trading Technologies as alternative data feeds for Ninja Trader. There's many other alternatives
