Experiencing a lot of disconnections from zenfire lately. What bothers me even more is that typically NT freezes and I have to end NT task and restart it. After restarting it always connects back to zenfire until the next disconnection.

Anyone have any ideas on how to deal with this? I would hope that NT could handle these disconnections without a restart.

So are you saying ninjatrader is the issue or zenfire? If ninja is crashing maybe that is the issue.

Contact Mirus for tech support. Ask for a pingable IP address to verify connectivity. Run one of many ping programs that monitors for packet loss or no response against the IP. Do the same against an IP in the same vicinity of the Zen Fire IP, like Chicago area. If one IP losses connectivity and the other doesn't, you'll have insight into the problem.

Given your location (far) it's most likely a routing error with your network provider or its peering partners.

Consider running from a VPS like what @sam028 offers if you need 100% stability.

Can't see where you are from while using Tapatalk but I am in New Zealand which is about as far away from Chicago as you can be.

I use ZF via Mirus and have had no disconnections for ages. It has been rock solid.

PS: I am also using NT.

I have NT Amp CQG and if I get disconnects I don't have to restart NT. Normally I can just wait a little bit and it will reconnect. If my disconnects are frequent I will reconnect manually but NT does not freeze. Maybe an indicator or strategy is causing NT to freeze after disconnect. I would try stripping down my charts to see what the culprit is. Also make sure you are running the latest NT version. Hope this helps.

You can also contact @NinjaTrader support they always get me fixed up.

Let me clarify a little.

I get the zenfire connection lost message, sometimes it comes right back, mostly it does not so if it doesnt i go and try to disconnect it from the NT control panel--that also works sometimes--but if it doesn't that is when i get the freeze( its really more of a hang not a freeze) and have to end task. its not total freeze--I can still click on charts but the NT control panel is frozen.

I think Bigmike is probably right--a problem with routing here in thailand. Actually I could not connect to zenfire for several hours last sunday.

Is there a primary connection loss or a price feed connection loss?

I guess that you have ISP issues(maybe junction is overloaded).

As BigMike already said, check your ping to zen-fire (use pingplotter e.g.).

Other reasons could be hardware / software firewalls.

I know but that is not important. Your ping to the server is important.

If you have a package loss or a bad ping, Zen-Fire will disconnect.
