I'm new with MC and I'm a little bit confused about which datafeed would fit best to me. Their overview @ multicharts.com/market-data-feeds didn't really bring me forward.
I want to backtest Forex, Futures and Stocks, especially Canadian, US and European Stocks. I trade on daily and 2-hours bars, which means only EOD-data doesn't make me happy. The biggest issue is that I would like to do my backtests on at least 10 years of past data, which might me a problem.
One of the advantages of MC is the possibility to connect with dozens of datafeeds.
You should know which one have the data you need and then go look if MC connects to it.
For your needs, I think the most suitable one is eSignal. They have quotes for almost every financial market in the world, in real time, stocks and futures.
MC is now offering 30 days of quotes provided by IQFeed. You could take advantage of that to test IQFeed's quality. I'm not certain but I believe IQFeed for Europe, only has future quotes, no stocks, but you can easily find that information on their website.
I recently purchased an eSignal data feed due to your recommendation, but I think I'm going to cancel it. The big problem is that I only can update 200 symbols at one time. Because I want to real-time screen all NYSE & NASDAQ stocks that have an avrg. trading volume of >= 80,000, this restriction makes it useless to me.
There is a chance to update it to 2,500 symbols, but it costs an additional $150/m. This makes it almost $300/m for just NYSE & NASDAQ quotes... I strongly hope there is something better, e.g. TC2000 comes alot cheaper, even though the data is not real NYSE/NASDAQ.
How much is it for CQG and do they offer 5,000+ symbols real-time? I always heard they are the best on the planet, but I guess this will make it costly.
IQfeed might get a chance from me, I don't like that they only offer 1000 bars back on daily data because I like to do backtesting on at least 2,500 bars (~10 years), but if they offer more than 5,000 symbols updated real-time at a fair price they might be the best trade-off.
I just stumbled across this thread today. My ears were burning!
Just like to chime in with a few facts. Not sure where you heard that we are limited to 1000 bars of daily historical, but we in fact offer 10+ years (MSFT back to Mar 15, 1994 or 4804 bars). Also, IQFeed offers 500 simultaneous symbols out of the box (max 1800 for additional cost), but if you have a scanning tool, I don't see simultaneous symbols as being an issue.
All IQFeed subscribers, regardless of the software being fed, can utilize IQFeed Custom Scans Client for a few bucks more per month. This is a real-time scan of one or all US markets, which provides up to 50 top results that meet up to three criteria, such as avg volume >=80,000.
Please PM me if you are still interested in a trial or have any other questions.
Kinetick is NT only. For non-NT platforms or for NT+other platforms, you'll need its big brother, IQFeed.
Due to time constraints, please do not PM me if your question can be resolved or answered on the forum.

IQ feed is only allowing 8 days of tick data during market hours, that includes weekends so you can have only 5 days of tick data after a long weekend. On lower volume stocks, commodities and even some of the futures, that means you can't load enough tick data to allow your indicators to work. If you see something, moving and want to look at a chart, you have to wait until the market closes to load your chart. That is not good enough for me, I am looking for something better.
