I don't use TradeStation personally, but my understanding is they have rather extensive backfill. I was thinking something like 10 years or more of minute data.

But I am not sure what they have in terms of tick data. Where you trying to backfill tick data or minute data?

Mike

Hi Mike
Could you please tell me which data type is more accurate (taking into the consideration that i will test my systems on the 15 min and higher time frames?
I will be very grateful if you recommend topics on the subject of the difference between one minute and tick data.

Many Thanks

I'm not sure I understand the question.

But minute data has five components: Open, High, Low, Close, Volume. 15 minute bars would be constructed using 15 1-minute bars, so there are 15 times the data points that are pieced together by your platform.

Tick data on the other hand contains every single tick. So we know precisely the order in which the OHLC came. With minute data, we do not know if the High came first, or the Low. The order is not known. With tick data it is.

So if you are backtesting strategies, it is always preferable to use tick data.
