Well, should have known better. ToS is having massive issues today with their so-called consolidation with TDAmeritrade. Definitely looking at bailing on their entire platform. They consolidated everyone's account to TDA - but in doing so, if you had a forex or futures account - they created multiple accounts for each. So while you had one single account with your funds, you now have to determine what amount to fund each account with. No big deal as thats pretty common on several platforms.
But thats not the worse of it. They decided to move EVERYONE's account to a newly created TDAmeritrade account that only equities/options are available to. If you trade futures, you were screwed. You have to initial a transfer to your futures account. Well, great. So, initiated transfer to futures account. After 4+ hours, still not present. So essentially the system has been down to ES trading since globex open yesterday. (Yeah, they claim the platform was up, but whats the use if you can't trade on it). Absolutely absurd.
Platform has been buggy and getting worse. The system was half way decent before but getting worse by the day. Now starting to talk to other brokers and this was probably a good catalyst to do so. So anyone considering ToS, the platform /was/ decent and some good analytical tools though many others have caught up. But beware as they are undergoing some massive consolidation with TdA and having more and more issues with their trading platform. A real pity as I had several custom indicators (external and self) that I was using and will need to consider porting to MC or something else.
Did you get the pattern day trade and net liquidation is under 25k error ? That was perpetual yesterday and completely locked me out. Was I a PTD ? Yeah probably but haven't traded equities with them in at least a couple years. Net liquidation under 25K (which is a problem if you are classified as a PTD) - no. My net liquidation position was several multiples of that. but because they created another account (split the accounts) and foobar'ed everything in the account, they created that PTD problem and locked the account up. Then after I transferred the entire amount to my futures account, it finally took at 4:02pm EST (about 5 hours). They knew this was a huge 'bug' as they told me twice and said they were hoping to have it resolved by the open. Well, they might have resolved it by the open but then trying to finally transfer it to my futures account only took the entire day to do. . .
They still have a problem. as to get around the PTD solution of my locked up account, it looks like they have now given me 3 day trades and NOT classified me as a PTD (brilliant workaround, eh).
Not a big deal. I only move about 500-1000 contracts round trip/month. They are nothing but apologetic, but apologetic doesn't fix the problems and they still couldn't.. . Plenty of other places to take my trading to. Ironic since I'm one of their very low key customers as I've only contacted them twice in over a year - but just finally got fed up.
