ZN contract questions.

The ZN T note contract is $15.62 a tick, yes? So 126'085 to 126'090 = $15.62 ? Just looking at it intraday with a live feed, I like the way it moves. Thanks for any info.

Thanks RLEPLAE. I just wanted to double check CME's info translation into the real world application.
Thanks Matthew28.
Dunno why I'd assumed Bond ticks were more. It sorta threw me when I overlaid Fibs and got these odd Price numbers on the Fib lines that didn't correspond to the Price the Global Crosshairs were showing me.
Bonds are a whole new world to me.

It is easy to create an indicator that will calculate a value, for example 125.131216
but that doesn't correspond to a tick value of the ZN instrument.
as that quotes in increments of 1/64

I don't think FIB levels are to be taken to the exact tick neitther...

Hope that helps you ...

The ZB, the 30 year Bond are twice the tick value, $31.25. From your original example, going from '08 to '09.
Unlike the ZN going from '080 to '085 to '090 in two ticks of $15.625.
Some platform indicators show the decimal values which can be a nuisance.

The nice thing about the bond futures are they are easily divisible for example :

30y ZB = 31.25/tick
10y ZN = 15.625/tick
5y ZF = 7.8125/tick

so the 10 is half the 30 and the 5 is half the 10 in tick size

I like trading the 30 now more than the 10 but the 10 is easier in some ways, much deeper book, get stop run less etc

bonds are a great day trading contract in my opinion. overlooked by many retail clients. Great size on the bid and ask and offers a different personality than Es, CL and GC.

I trade it daily and will be happy to answer any specific questions you may have.

Trading commodity futures and options involves substantial risk of loss.
