if a range is the smallest of the last four then it should appear red? correct? Isn't there a numerical formula for the cell range?

thanks for answering my questions

Correct

Isn't there a numerical formula for the cell range?

Excel simplifies that for you with the conditional formatting. Basically by selecting the bottom x (in your case you want the bottom 1 results, i.e. the minimum value of the last four) Excel automatically calculates the minimum result and colors it for you.

I need this formula to calculate every four cells only, not to take into account the entire row. Every four it should color the smallest value?

This is probably really simplistic, but I am running into a block

thanks again

Update.....

I created a separate column that takes the MIN of the last 4 cells so I can visually compare them ...then a separate column that says T or F if the last entered range is lower than the lowest range of the last four sessions?

Hardly space efficient but functional

As long as it works... you can always think about beautifying it later
