I was after a thread started by benbrooke on footprint. How do I search for it. Thanks.

One way would be to search for threads started by benbrooke specifically.

On the top-right in the search area, click "Search for users":
https://nexusfi.com/search/users/

Then type benbrooke, and go to his profile. Then go to the Statistics tab and click "Find all threads started by benbrooke":

You can probably see it from there as there were only 15 matches.

If he didn't start it, then you could do the same thing but search for all POSTS (not threads) by benbrooke and skim the list for one that stands out at you.
