Hello...

I'm looking for alternatives to Ninjatrader and did some research on software that allow a researcher to do their own type of backtesting whether it is manual or automated...

My only goal is this... I want to be able to draw trendlines and keep that trendline tool "Selected".... That's all...
I think that is not too much to ask for...
It would be a + if it is java based and... if it is possible to add a custom shortcut key for trendline....

If you know any software product free/commercial please mention it... I will use its trial and test it...

One more key thing is... The software should not be linked to a brokerage account (like tradestation). It should be useable via independent purchase or free version (like ninjatrader).

So far, I worked on Motivewave trial, it doesn't have the option to keep the trendline tool selected...

Sierra Chart meets those requirements.

I just checked the trendline tool and it stays selected after drawing a line so you can draw continuous lines.

- Not Java based though

You could try Sierra Chart, as you can Select Any Drawing Tool, and it will keep that Selection until you Change it.
This can be set up in your Short cut Tool then every time you want your Trendline just Right Click on your Chart, and you have whatever you want to access....you can have drawing tools,orders,time&sales....this is Endless to what you can have
in this Right Click list that you can access quickly.
