First you need an edge; meaning your method generates net profit over n number of trades. If you have that you need risk management. Its not practice that makes perfect, it is perfect practice that makes perfect. The best approach is to paper trade, list out, see what you need to improve. Go live only after your paper trading has delivered net profits after n number of trades. The best traders move back to paper trading when their live results are not good enough.

Mentors and coaches are available aplenty, but self coaching done right works better.

Ninjatrader offers market replay that lets you record and trade the markets at a later time as if it was real time. It is a great method for practicing.

As for reading material, i would also recommend Al Brooks and Pats Price action. They are very similar in nature and if you YouTube "Pats Price Action" you will find a plethora of videos where he goes over his daily trades and explains his trading methodology (mostly second entries). Best of all: the videos are completely free.

Save your money and go with free content, especially since money is hard to come by in the start.

All the best,

Freebird

This seems like a good thread to make my first post in. I've been trading forex for a number of years now, pretty much breakeven. I've started looking into futures recently though. I saw some of the order flow tools and they seemed interesting but they seemed to be better for futures so that's why I've been looking at this site more often.

I actually got auction dashboard but have no idea how to use it or other order flow software. I don't even have a futures account right now, was thinking of watching 6E and using that to help with EUR/USD trades but I don't know if that's a thing or not.

I guess I'm looking for some tips or things you guys think I should be looking into. If anyone is up to do some mentoring I'm all for that as well. Ideally I'd like some help with auction dashboard since I have it but I'm willing to look at some other tools or other information as well. Thanks for the help and maybe I'll move to futures instead of forex in the futures.
