How to use CCleaner ?

Hi especialy to ZTR - or all others who know about this topic,

i often read about your journeys arround NT7 - betatesting and that you use CCleaner for to prepare a new NT-version install.

i had a look at CCleaer these days and wasnt shure how to use it - to much options to choose - i was afraid of damaging more things than doing sensful actions.

can you give a short overview wich option one should use with CCleaner and wich ones are more "dangerous" ?

thanks for some info !

So I crash my system once in a while

Seriously, I use it to clean things up and even use it to straighten up the resistry once in a while. I had a friend over who is certified on all things Microsoft and he said when using CC make sure you say yes to any backing of the registry.

You must have a restore point that works in case something bad happens.

CCleaner and Defraggler and my tools of choice I defrag every day after doing the NT Utility Backup. Once a month I do a CHKDSK to make sure things are good with my drives (I run a RAID).

PM me or we can Skype at some point if you have questions.

P.S. Cory is faster than me!

OK thanks,
so it seems that restore-points + the reg-backup are keypoints here.

@ cory
if i disable these quicktime + adobe-things in Start-up - do i have negativ behavior in my browser while surfing (not playing movies/flash) or isnt that related to this ?

what happens when i delete all cookies in firefox - will this also delete all my auto-logins in website-accounts ?

Max, I run a totally stripped down Windows 7 no Aero, no helpers, no auto new version checkers. Almost nothing runs at start up. But your auto logins could be lost in some cases, I'll leave that to Cory or someone else to answer.

no they are not related, they are tasks to look for latest version then do a popup message to remind you, it's just a nuisance to be reminded of upgrading all the time.

Actually, you can select which cookies to keep. Use the OPTIONS button and then COOKIES.

For example, select www-dot-bigmiketrading-dot-com and you won't lose your password for this forum.

I was going to include the weblink to the help section but I guess I am too new here. They have excellent online help - that's where I looked this up.
