Hello,
I am having a hard time finding a CPA to handle the required IRS paperwork. None of the CPA's I have called, at least 30, seem to know what to do. I would like a CPA either in Bakersfield, California or in the west Los Angeles County area. Does anyone know a CPA who knows how to do this paperwork?

At least one required form to fill out is IRS form 3115 for the "Mark to Market" election to avoid the IRS "Wash Sale" rule. Also, I need to ask the CPA questions such as the required number of trades per year to qualify as a "Business Trader" with the IRS. I understand this number is at least 3,000. However, I would like it to be less.

Any referred CPA must be at least listed in the online Yellow Pages or Yelp. He must have a valid CPA license to practice in California.

If you review the main tax thread, you'll find several trading-specific firms.

I would strongly recommend Green Trader Tax. They've been doing my tax's for six years. They will know the answer to all your questions and issues including mark-to-market elections, LLCs etc etc. Their founder Robert Green is featured often in Futures Magazine, Forbes and other top publications. While they are not in CA they do everything online - I've never met my CPA in person. They also have a massive amount of information available on the website.
