Traded 7-10 years ago. Had IB -- Sierra combination.

Had more money back then, but had a huge monthly nut to cover which made me trade scared and I always baled way too early then.

Have down-sized considerably and don't have nearly the financial pressure - with less income, even.

Seems a lot more complicated (and expensive now than it did back then) .... Sierra - I'm sure it has many more features now, but the learning curve seems much steeper. NinjaTrader fits my thinking logic better, but I'm still shopping.

Reading, studying, practicing with paper....

Think I'm leaning towards a DDT / MotiveWave / Rithmic combination when I go live focusing on ES and YM.
If anybody hates my choices - I'd love to hear about it.

Creating a journal of what you do may help, and also will assist in refining your trading plan. Do you have one posted here in this forum?

What kind of problems were you having?

Thanks, sands --- I'm fine.
Just got account open with DDT - Deep Discount Trading -- and it has been much less painful than I imagined.
Big "thumbs up" to them.
Now if I can just figure out trailing stops on NT7 with the chart trader......

I was wondering if you had any experience with NQ? I noticed you trade the other two main equity indices.

I have been trading NQ for a while, but think I may swing with YM for a bit and then graduate to ES when the
patience and technique is locked.

So, basically, what made you choose YM over NQ for your low volume / thinner market choice?

grazie

ps

..and Welcome Back !!

Cool mate, try looking on YouTube. Yesterday I saw a great video on there on how to use ATM strategies that auto manages your trailing stops. Well worth a search. I think it was I. The official ninjatrader YouTube account (apologies I don't have the link to hand) but have a search should be easy to find.

Thanks again, sands.
I've looked at a ton of the videos -- and to me -- they are a real source of aggravation.

Too frenetic, too scattered, too much packed into 45 min. They move stuff around so fast and cover every nuance, mouse click, scenario, scale - a pain to stay focused for very long.... or you have to slog through all 45 minutes to find the 60 seconds you're looking for.
These demos should be broken down into manageable pieces.

Great - too bad you guys/gals missed gold in curling. They're all Scots anyway, soon to be its own country, huh? right...

Sorry, can't post the screen shots - not enough posts, I guess...

Here's the ATM -- Ninja Automated Trading Module (Strategy)
- want to set sliding/trailing stop X ticks below/above market.
- no profit target.
- think I'm almost there, hear the cash register thingy dinging as the price moves.

I think you have to put in a profit target in Ninja ATM's ... just make it 200 or so.. you will be safe with
your chosen instruments
