As you can tell from my title, I'm new to trading. I am looking to educate myself enough to become a day trader. I've been learning as much as possible over the last 4 months since becoming interested just from my own research with videos, tips, forums, books, etc. Also attended the free half day course offered from Online Trading Academy here in Kansas City and am thinking about attending the TopStep Trading University program. Started studying about technical analysis, and trying to duplicate trends in the market with strategies that I've seen in webinars and then practice said strategies on ThinkorSwim with my paperTrading account.
I've heard and read a lot of the horror stories from people about losing their entire account in one position. My goal is to learn from others mistakes and to not repeat them. I look forward to picking up any knowledge from anyone on here. Hope to talk to y'all soon.
there are some links related to How traders have made it along the way, and also there's a Risk And Psicology youtube video in between from TopSteptrader. There are also some webinars on the topic you could also check out, also try checking Big Mikes "Where to start as a trader" if you haven't already. The webinars section has great material.
I guess it all goes down the same road, regarding your question: risk management and psicology.
hope it helps

Come up witha good trading plan and then journal your progress to ensure you know how and why you've made decisions and how to avoid repeating mistakes. Do a search for trading plan and a search for trading journal respectively to see guides on each.

And Gabriyele's great original thread on trading videos. (need to be elite) Lots of free stuff on the web without having to subscribe for a paid "trading video channel". and of course best to pick and choose and decide for oneself what could work or not.
