Just a little about me. Worked 2 jobs for most of my life. I'm now 40. I kept all my savings in the bank until 2009 when i got sick of the super low interest rates. So I kept looking for a better alternative and became interested in stocks. I decided to learn about stocks and dividends. I guess I was lucky to get in at the time. I became a buy and hold guy. Then as I became more interested in the market, I started to swing trade. I had my ups and downs. Now after 15yrs in the IT world, my job was outsourced to India. I did not want to go back to the IT world and be just a number again. I wanted to be free from 9 to 5. So I decided to be my own boss. I purchased a 4 apartment building and am looking for another, but I also want to learn the art of day-trading. So as I searched the web for trading forums, I came upon this one. Before this post I've watched hours of videos and read many posts and want to thank everyone who worked to make that possible. I know right of the bat that my inner mind will be a issue I will need to get a grasp on. There is so much to comprehend my heads a spinning!

I think you have found a great place. I recommend the webinar "afternoon with Big Mike" or something like that. It is a great intro to the Forums and trading. I also recommend NinjaTrader. It is free for practice and you can minimum fund a small account to get live data. Or maybe Ninja can be used at TOS? Anyway, Ninjas sim is very realistic. Slippage in sim is very similar to live. Lots of controversy over sim vs. live. for sure if you can't be profitable in sim you won't be profitable live. the reason we can be profitable in simm and not live is because since it is not real money we don't treat the trade the same way we would a live trade.
Again if you haven't heard the above webinar, Big Mike recommends keeping score by some other means than profits. Find a way to grade your performance.
all the best,

If nothing else watch the where to start webinar. Imho as a newbie I could have shaved off months of wasted time and money by just watching webinars by experienced traders on here. I definitely think the true value of a membership is the vast array of webinars. It's a steal.
