Well, it's been a long time coming as I have been putting off intros for at least a month since joining Futures.io. But after reading Mike's auto generated welcome message, I was persuaded to take the time to explore the blogs further.

I can't be the only one in the particular situation that I am. My programming experience is essentially zero and I am frustrated by my professional career and would like supplement my income with trading income. If nothing else it would buy me a little peace.

The fact that I have no programming experience is a little galling since in undergrad I tutored logic and even wrote a thesis on predicate logic. That's irony for you.

I'd like to learn C# so that I can tackle handling my own coding instead of having to depend on the good charity of some of the people I've seen on the forums. The expertise and generosity of some of the members (Fat Tails, I'm looking at you) astounds me.

Problem is, like many people, who has the time to learn coding properly?

Enough of that. Some background is in order. Native Californian, mid-30s, attorney, currently (attempting to) trade the ES, special interest in the precious metals, opened a NT account in September of 2016 and have lost $1,800 so far trading on Election Night (dumb). What else? Hopefully that comes out in the coming days.

Thanks to Mike and the rest who take interest.

Best trading to all.

Hi all,
I have been trading stocks for many years, Forex and options more recently (4th year). I have a portion of my stock positions around mid/short term swing trading while my long tern investments are primarily dividend oriented diversified across many sectors both US and Canada. I even own some great mutual funds (yeah some beats the market).

My forex trading are for most short terms and have been quite successful so far using very simple strategy. I find forex to trend more than stocks with a more predictable course. Black swan events in forex are rarer.

I am entering my fourth year in options and hoping I will continue my progression. I have lost money on 1st year, broke even on my 2nd and made money on the 3rd. Let's hope the same cycle do not repeat! I am working on my business plan and refining some of my trading strategies. My goal in this 4th year is to totally "own" my trades rather than follow someone else's ideas. I have found that my opinion counts and do things right while some pros are doing it wrong. I guess it is a question of self-confidence.

This forum seems geared towards futures (which I can't trade in Canada) but found many posts on stock options which is why I decided to join.

Cheers all and happy tradding!

Great forum Big Mike! I decided to finally become elite because of the great information your site offers. Also seeing as custom built indicators cost at least $100 you provide a great value for the money especially if you are a trader that needs additional indicators. The community posts have been a nice addition to my trading and I look forward to giving back to the community.

Sincerely,
NQQuant

Hello. My name is Valentina. Trading is still a mystery to me. I hope to learn this trade and be in tune with the market and understand it. I'm a loner but don't think that is compatible with learning to trade. I'm glad there is a place like this- you're sort-of hiding but still can pick a little to the outside world. I wish good trading and fun doing it to all who are here.

Hi All,
My name is Mike I've been lurking for a few years (time/work, life permitting) and recently have a new position that allows me the free time to start trading again. I mostly swing trade options and futures but would like to season myself with enough knowledge and discipline to day trade the e-minis.

Look forward to a positive exchange for all to benefit.
Cheers, Mike

Hoping this post lands in the introduction area- that is where it is intended to go

Joined this group after asking many questions on line and kept finding solid answers right here!

Primarily trade /CL and /DX.

Have only been trading futures for 5 years. Trade minimum 8 hours a day. The market seems to come easier for me after several years of a difficult learning curve.

I've never participated actively within a trading group. I hope to be able to make a contribution to others.

Thanks all,
Artrep

Hi all my name is Dave and I am completely new to daytrading. Every facet is something new for me. I began doing some research and many of the questions I had led me to a post on this site. I have spent many hours reading threads and finally decided to join. I am excited about my journey and learning. I am in my 50s and do not come into this lightly or with a get rich quick mentality. I thank you all for sharing your knowledge.

Dave

Hi All,
This looks like a very interesting site. I found it when I was looking for reviews of the Day Trading Academy. Based on ppl's comments I decided not to waste my money on it. Instead I plan to research the info on this site and see what I can learn. I am a semi-retired engineer. I have had a decent nest egg with a traditional investment advisor for over 15 years but it seems like he is just barely breaking even. What with the stock market sky rocketing since the Great Recession it certainly seems like he should be doing better. I don't know if the answer for me lies in investing in the futures market and maybe just doing something like doing my own asset allocation investment using Index Funds but something needs to change so I can sleep at night knowing I will have the funds I need to enjoy my retirement years. Anyone's thoughts are much appreciated.

Dave, we are in the same boat then. I'm just going through a lot of literature. Essentially focusing on studying Candlesticks, Chart patterns, Momentum Indicators, Trends etc. Once I get a grasp of these basics, I'll probably paper trade for a while and develop my own strategy.
