Hi everyone. Thanks for having me here. I have been a papertrading daytrading student for close to two years. I love futures. Signed up for DTA and the first $3k I spent feel a little lost and sad to have found info here that makes me realize I may not have put hard earned money in the correct place to be a successful futures trader. However via this site I found Mack with PATS and am waiting on them to reply a couple questions and think may haave found a good source for success. So far I appreciate this site a lot. Thanks, and I look forward to growing here. Big Mike, thank you!

Have a great day!

Helo everyone!!!!

I am Lucas from Argentina, english is not my first language so be patient! I am new to trading, I have been reading books and surfing forums and blogs since 2 months or so ago. In Argentina we don't have a trading comunity or history, people here dont really have an investment culture, don't even think about trading!! So it's kind of frustrating cuz I can't really talk to anyone or share info, all I have left is sites like this one.

I have a part time job that goes from 6pm to 12 pm, and since we are only 1 hour ahead of NYC, I can trade the markets in the mornings which is great for me. I am puting 40 hours a week of work and study on this. So far I am only paper trading, my guess is I'll start with real money in December if not earlier.

Well that's pretty much all I have to say, hope to have a great time here and share info with you guys!!!

See ya around

Hi everyone, I learned about futures trading years ago from my father who has been trading for years with no real success. I am at a point in my life now where I can actually work on learning to trade successfully full time, I can treat learning like a job. At the moment, order flow scalping techniques have me quite intrigued and I am considering purchasing the training that No BS Day Trading offers. If anyone has any informed opinions on order flow scalping I would love to hear them! Thanks to everyone for all the helpful information they post here for people like me, and especially thanks to Big Mike for creating such a great, helpful, and needed forum. Good luck and happy trading!

Hello All & Thanks to Big Mike for the forum.

I have been trading on and off for almost 20 years, since just prior to the dot com bubble. I have been following the economy and trading since I was a child in the early 80's. I am a financial geek and view this as my life.

I have the luxury of having a cushy, well paid academic career. This affords me the ability to take trades, within reason, in a vacuum since all of my trading capital is risk capital that I can replace. This has resulted in a weird psychological place to be for trading (cutting winners short and letting losers run due to laziness).

I have learned that even though I am great as a macro fundamentals (position) trader I am too lazy to check in on my positions on a regular basis, I am much better if I focus for a few hours and day trade (scalp/swing) when I can.

I have traded almost everything at this point (including trading cards & women's purses, haha), but I prefer futures due to the ease of doing taxes in a mark-to-market environment.

W.r

Joel

Folks,

I have just learnt that I've been around this community for exactly 354 days and I have said and contributed 'nuffin'. Well, that was primarily because I am the strong and silent type and I didn't believe that I could add anything at all to the cerebral and 'eddycated' interactions of the community. (Just kiddin' about the 'strong and silent type' but I am not joshin' about the lack of an ability to make a meaningful contribution). I have great pictures of puppy-dogs but I guess no one would be interested??

Anyway, here I am fronting up and saying, "Hey, maybe I could have written this 354 days ago?" but let bygones be bygones and all that, and let me see what best I can do about contributing as time goes by.

My education in 'Futures' has begun in right earnest and I am reading books by the venerable Jimmy F. Dalton. I have bought some Market Profile software from Fin-Alg and right now I have been trying to get some of applications of the Gom suite to run on my machine. So, that's where I am at. I might ask some questions so be kind, and I am glad forums don't have hazing.

Thanks, Big Mike, and all the rest of you for keeping such an amazing community going. It sure makes me all teary (just kiddin' again, though I thought it would sound good) and proud (not kiddin'!) to belong.

Cheers!

T. T.

I stumbled into this site looking for indicators for NinjaTrader and could see by the discussions going on that it would be valuable to hang around so I signed up. Just getting started with Futures, probably just going to be doing the ES mini. Used to daytrade stocks but never had the time to do it right and never could figure a way past the, let's say 'loose', markets (i.e., no real accountability required by anyone). Perhaps that's why I like ES futures. Time will tell.

I've been doing simulations against the live ES futures stream and am liking the results so it's almost time to dive in and test the waters with real money. I will say that some of the custom indicators I've found here are ideal for the type of swing trading that seems to work for me. The next 6 months are going to be exciting either way it goes.

Thanks to all for the community spirit. See you.
